Default House on Haunted Hill (1999 Remake) - April 6, 2015

I never heard about this coming out! Apparently it's been out since April and no one created a thread for it?

Yeah odd. I saw some people mention on another thread that it is apparently a travesty of a transfer.

Damnit! For a second I was excited. I wish WB would release this thing.

The three wolves UK release is a disgrace (along with their recent Austin powers version). The bit rate is very low and the picture skips constantly. It is the worst blu Ray I own. And three wolves despite complaints refuse to accept criticism of it. They put me in touch with their mastering guy who spent all his time trying to refute what I was saying and not addressing the fact this should never have been released. I couldn't be bothered to take it further

The way to go is to ignore this film and buy The Haunting (1962) instead which is a much better film! (US is region-free).

The German Blu went out of print a while ago, & prices went a bit high, but it's back now, & at a good price. One of those titles I keep meaning to get.

Their operation reeks of one or a couple of people who had some spare cash, set up a company, picked up a few fairly well known film rights hoping for a quick return. Didn't realise or account for all the costs involved (licenses/BBFC/Sony/mastering/encoding/pressing ect) and skimped on the technical production. If I were in a position to set up a small operation, I'd at least budget for a half decent disc producer and a Lyris type at a respectable post facility to deal with the tech side & QC.

Well buy the German release, 8.53 euro Marketplace price, even with p&p it's got to be under a tenner.
