The last several years have been extremely disappointing. Far fewer movies promoted than they used to, and most if not all of the ones they show are trailers/teasers already out there.
Here's hoping we actually do get to see something new. |

Well at the end of the day, it's a ludicrous amount of money for such a short amount of time. Sure it's raising awareness to general audiences about films coming out way in advance. But most can go online and see a full trailer for something like Suicide Squad now without having to folk out the dollars to get it one TV for 30 seconds, heck they even get ad revenue from people watching the trailer on their official channel. But outside of Deadpool and Bats V Sups which are right around the corner and will be able to carry that hype through to release, the only people that seem to generally care about what is shown are the Internet types.
Outside of trailers and maybe the odd inspired poster, I don't get into marketing all that much, it's just an opportunity to spoil the films best bits for yourself. |

Agreed. Many of the studios feel the need to rely on the "big moments" of their projects to sell the film to the casual audience tuning in that night, and thus, either pleases us fans who are more "in the know" because we're itching for more footage any way we can get it, or we become upset when they show more than they should've, or rather the wrong scenes (looking at you, BvS).

I don't like movie trailers during the superbowl. I'd rather that time went to some of the really cool high-production-value commercials that companies make for that time.
Trailers are fun, but they don't quite fit the "spirit" of superbowl commercials |

Is there any chance of seeing something for Rogue One at all during the game?

It's likely although not confirmed we may get these trailers/spots..
Deadpool Independence Day: Resurgence X-Men: Apocalypse The Hunstman's Winter War Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Captain America: Civil War Disney is keeping mum cause you know why. no Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Suicide Squad. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/batman...tman-v-a130548 Last edited by Himmel; 01-29-2016 at 10:57 PM. |

I totally get why more studios are opting for really short spots that basically direct viewers to a full trailer online. Makes far more sense than paying outrageous amounts for a longer spot.

![]() Even the article you cite uses words like "Universal is likely bringing" and "it's thought that both of those are getting TV spots"... ...and no, Disney is not running a Rogue One spot. |

For what it's worth, here is Deadline's equally speculative take:

I'm not sure if this would be the proper thread to ask this or not but, What is the average amount of days after a movie trailer is classified(rated) that it is then released online? 7 to 10 days afterwards? Or 7 or 14 days afterwards?

Oh, I see. I thought that it was 7 to 10 or 7 to 14 days before a movie trailer is released that it's classified(rated). No, This isn't regarding 'Pirates', i'm just trying to get an idea as to how long before a movie trailer is released online, that it is given its classification(rating) online. If this was about 'Pirates' then I would have posted my initial post on the Pirates 5 thread. I know that albertafilmratings.ca and bbfc.co.uk are good websites to view, when wanting to find out when a movie trailer is released online. But those websites only give the date that they were classified(rated), and not the date that they will be released online.

Here is the breakdown...
Fox has bought two 30 second TV spots. Universal one 60 second TV spot. Paramount one 30 second TV spot. Disney an "undisclosed multiple spots." Sony and Warner have not bought any spots, although Warner is co-sponsoring the Doritos fan ad for the game there may be something (Bat vs. Supes) related there. http://http://comicbook.com/2016/01/30/super-bowl-2016-movie-trailers/ |
