The download for these firmware upgrades can only be done on Windows. I have a Mac and so I called Panasonic to order this 1.2 firmware update and was told that it is not available for U.S. players yet. Supposedly if it's on the "global" website, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's available for U.S. players yet.

On a side note, it took about 20 minutes and 5 calls to finally get through to the right person. I had the same problem when ordering firmware upgrades with my old 10A player. The Panasonic players are great, but the customer service is suspect!

At least everytime I have to call I get someone in the US that speaks english. Just try calling Microsoft support and see what you get. I'll post a pic of one of their workers for you........

Default A Suggestion

I'm a proud owner of this beauty.

I wonder if you can just copy the image to an SD card and pop it in the player to do the update???

Then there are no disks to burn and you don't need windows.

That is just too funny since this player was only released in North America. Or so one of the early press reports said. Donot feel like digging it up.

But why not just go over to a friends house and use their computer for 5 mins to do it.

If I post the extracted file (no windows .exe but a zip file) can you download the update and burn it to a CD on MAC?

DMP-BD30 firmware 1.2

so is this firmware update a N. American update or not? Reason I ask is because i downloaded it but when i decompress and it asks where to put file, the instructions are in Japanese.

This update is only for N. America. The DMP-BD30 has only been released in N. America. I have downloaded and installed this update, it works fine.

Shawn,

FYI, Panasonic usually posts these firmware updates as self extracting .rar files for the PC (hence the .exe file). If you download the file to your Mac, and then change the suffix to .rar, you should then be able to extract the file using either stuffit or unRarX (freeware-- you can find it on versiontracker.com). You can then burn the file to a CD and install the update per the listed instructions.

Thanks, I'm going to see if I can do what you said. I just bought my Mac and am still learning how to use it.

need a little help, having trouble with this FW update? I have done numerous FW updates to the Samsung players by burning to a disc. with Samsung you always burn as an image, is this different. I tried just burning file to disc but I keep getting an error "disk is not compatible" ?? What am I doing wrong. sorry, first Panasonic BD player
