Kino Lorber have confirmed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray director Mira Nair's film Salaam Bombay! (1988), starring Shafiq Syed, Hansa Vithal, Chanda Sharma, and Raghuvir Yadav. The release is expected to arrive on the market later this year.
From director Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding), this "brilliantly achieved, stunning and powerful" (Los Angeles Times) film "burst onto the Indian cinema scene with the force of a tornado" (Time Out London)! Winner of the Camera d'Or at the 1988 Cannes Film Festival and nominated for Best Foreign Film Oscar in 1989, this riveting look at life on the hardened streets of Bombay went on to accumulate accolades and awards across the globe. Forced to leave his family at a very young age, Krishna lives on the streets with pimps, prostitutes, drug addicts and other homeless children. He earns very little money-but it's more than most-delivering tea so he can return home to his family. But his honest plan is foiled when his hard-earned money is stolen by his closest friend, forcing Krishna to follow in the footsteps of so many street children of Bombay...by turning to a life of crime. Special Features: Five Original Documentaries Shot In India: One Chance In a Million A Color In the Hand Of the Painter I Got Love It Gave Me a Career So Kids Like Us Can Learn Forever Original Featurette - No Guts, No Glory Audio Commentary by Director Mira Nair Second Audio Commentary by Cinematographer Sandi Sissel Original Theatrical Trailer Link : Blu-ray.com |

Haha, I just got the NFDC DVD few months ago, but this film is a memorable classic and deserves an HD release. Hopefully they have a good restored source for the transfer. On the UK side, if not Eureka/Arrow, perhaps Artificial Eye or New Wave could consider picking it up.

FedEx Ground: $8.61 Its costing more than $16. In today's day and age when Amazon Prime Membership that has 2 days free shipping. Kino like imbeciles need to learn a lot about how business is done online. ![]() Thanks anyways. |

![]() That said, they charge $8 for the first disc and an additional $1 for each disc after that. And shipping is free for orders over $50. Amazon free shipping is for orders over $25 (or free if you are a $99/year Prime subscriber). Considering Kino discs are usually cheaper on their site, even compared to Amazon, its actually more cost effective to shop at Kino if you plan to buy a few discs at a time. |
