That have NOT been released on Region A.... by Arrow
They might have a region A release by another company, but what would you say are essential ARROW Blu Rays, strictly speaking to an American who is looking to purchase form foreign BD's! Thanks much!!! |

Depends on what movies interest you. Listing few of my choices:
Their releases of Mario Bava films (other than A Bay of Blood) have similar or better video quality than Kino releases, and much more extras, including Italian language versions of the film on the same disc, other interviews, essays etc. Arrow release of Fulci's Zombie Flesh Eaters aka Zombie has MUCH better video quality than Blue Underground release. Big Trouble in Little China - new interviews with John Carpenter & Kurt Russell. The Train cheaper and with more extras than Twilight Time (TT) The Killers 46/64 - Put in 2 separate releases, great video quality and a much larger extras package than Criterion Cinema Paradiso Director's Cut, MUCH better video quality and more extras than Lionsgate My Darling Clementine - Better video and lossles audio on the extended cut, and a bonus feature film compared to Criterion |

@ravenous
First of all, thank you so much for your time and in advnace for you rtime helping me with this message!!! That probably would have made since to add what I'm into, lol. DUUUH! I love horror/cult/exploitation/etc. Ill say "Arthouse" because I LOVE Borowczyk, and I don't know how else to categorize him! I own ALL the USA releases- Mutilator, Boodrage, Island of Death, Eaten Alive, La Bete, Immoral tales, Contamination (Still need to get 2 black cats) and I have (Killer dames & Death Walks on pre-order) I collect all the Redemption BD Kino's and that's cool to hear about Bay of Blood having an even better picture! I went back and forth reading 1 thing saying Arrows ZOMBIE was best, then another saying Blue Underground, and on and on and I finally just bought Blue Underground... thought it sounds like i need to get Arrows release ASAP.... I know the steelbook is sold out... what other version to you recommend? Also, great news on BIG TROUBLE!! Next, I used to have to DVD's of theirs or DVD/BD combos (if they had them) and they had reversible covers, a folded poster and sometimes mini lobby card thingys. This question might be a no-brainer, but In order to get those, am I going to have to get the Limited Edition https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/A-Bay...Blu-ray/15624/ Or will they come with the other, too? https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/A-Bay...lu-ray/111673/ Does that apply to all their BD's that have a "Limited Edition" and a "Standard Edition?" Next, do then use all the same master prints on there releases? For Example, if you look up "Tenebrae." There is a 1 Disc, 1-Disc Zavvi, 2-Disc, & 3-Disc Zavvi. If I order a title (not just Tenebrae) will I be getting the same master print they have been using? Lastly, do you have any you would want to part with? I am open to any titles! All the best, Brandon PS- The following look nice to me... any words of wisdom having seen the Arrow and preferably a US release, but Arrow is fine enough! *Tenebrae *City of the Living Dead- Ive heard mixed reviews, I own Blue Undergrounds *Inferno- Ive heard mixed reviews, I own Blue Undergrounds *Hellraiser- I'd LOVE to get these, but its way up there... are there any other good releases of it? *Obsession *Rabid Dogs *Incredible Melting Man *Rabid- Is this one cut?? Either way, how is it? *Shivers- Or is it Shivers that's cut? Either way, how is it? *Sisters *Lady Snowblood (Especially with the new criterion release) *King of New York *Within and I *The Funhouse *Nightmare City - I have the RaroVideo release *Slaughter High - is this on BD? Whether I potential have it or not, what ones do you recommend I look into purchasing? WOW! That Borowczyk is outta control! Damn I LOVE Borowczyk... I wish I had known about that when it was released! PS- I WISH, SOOO BADLY they would put John Russo's "MIDNIGHT" on BD!!! |

The Arrow release of Vamp is one of my favorites. It's region-free and puts the Image release in the US to shame

I have the regular edition of Arrow's Zombie - LINK Quote:
Nowadays they do different things with Limited & Standard editions - The LE packaging is very lavish and may contain bonus disc(s) with additional cuts of the movie or other extras or soundtrack CD, or hardcover book, art cards etc. Quote:

You can pretty much always expect the packaging and extras to always be above and beyond, and they usually do their very best sometimes with terrible masters. So based just on the qualities of the films, I'd recommend Day of Anger, Zombie, Theatre of Blood, Sullivan's Travels, and The House by The Cemetery. All tremendous films, all new favourites, and all of which I have discovered thanks to Arrow.

Mario Bava's version was done in a mixture of HD (using son's version & SD father's version - ONLY way to get the Mario's version in HD) by Marc Morris. The US BD ONLY has the son's version. |

The Burbs
Big Trouble in Little China Lifeforce Time Bandits Rollerball Thief Runaway Train The Fury Buckaroo Banzai I'd argue that all of these are stronger than their US releases of they've had one. And that's not even getting into the horror/giallo categories, where Arrow truly excels at the moment. |

Another Vote for BIG TROUBLE!!!
I Love the Burbs, but would rather focus on horror/giallo/exploitation titles at the moment! Thank you for your time and help! Quote:

Deep Red and Zombie Flesh Eaters are musts as they exclusively feature the best transfers of these classics, bar none. The former is sold out but I'm certain a general release is on the way. Same with the three Hellraisers which have unique transfers; I'm pretty sure either standalones or a cheaper trilogy set have been announced.
Don't bother with Arrow's Tenebrae, get the new one by Synapse. Also don't bother with some older Arrow discs; you're better off sticking with the Blue Underground City of the Living Dead, for example (better compression), unless you're mainly a bonus features guy; and BU's Inferno has arguably the best transfer of the film since they did additional color-correction to bring out the deep hues. Arrow's Bava releases are good to get since they usually (or always?) feature both Italian audio and the English AIP dubs for each film, and better compression. Black Sabbath also has the best color timing of all the Blu-rays. I'm a fan of that one, The Girl Who Knew Too Much, and Blood and Black Lace (this last one was supposed to come out here but got held up indefinitely). The Arrow disc for Nightmare City has a brand new scan that, while problematic, looks much more filmic than the previous master Raro used. Arrow's also uses the master Raro used as a bonus. And when wanting to compare transfers, caps-a-holic is really helpful. They just put up their comparison of Tenebrae. |

I'd say Cinema Paradiso is one of the best looking Blurays I have ever seen from any label, but I see you're interested unfortunately only in horror..
The Fury is another I own (that it's in your area of interest), and it's also very good looking! |

Their releases of Obsession and Sisters are both quite nice and region free for anyone without an all region player. Obsession is the better film, but they're both lovingly treated. Sisters is sourced from a Criterion loaned master, which makes me think they did not plan on putting it out on blu.
