Incorrect should be a list, anything not on it is correct and it will be smaller

Exactly. Then you've got Warner and Paramount who open every 1.85:1 title to 1.78:1.

One example among many, For a Few Dollars More. Presented in the same aspect ratio, but very noticeable framing differences between the Italian and US transfer. All things considered, I'm not going to take an poor quality transfer or encode over a slightly more proper aspect ratio either. There's too many other variables to consider. Aspect ratio is important, but it's just not that important. |

It might be more productive to list the Blu-ray releases that list an aspect ratio on the box that is not the one on the disc rather than the original aspect ratio (which in the 35mm days not all that long ago often varied slightly from theatre to theatre even within the same multiplex, depending on the lenses and aperture plates available for each screen).
I can't recall titles off-hand, but there are several Blu-rays that list 1.78 (or 1.85) on the boxcover that are actually 2.35 or 2.4 on the disc, and vice versa. Even more releases specifically state 1.85 or 1.66 on the box when the disc is a full 1.78, but there are also a few that are vice versa. The 1.37 and 1.33 difference is too minimal to bother with, but some say 1.33 (or 1.37) that are really between 1.2 to 1.18, a much more noticeable difference. |

Not counting minor differences like 1:85 to 1:78, there is Last Emperor Criteron which goes from 2.4 to 2.0, and IMAX shot or formatted titles which crops those sequences (though since the AR change in the first case came from the cinematographer and the latter is in-line with wide release version can't truly say if they are not the "correct" version).
The only titles I'm aware of where a significant AR change seems not to have been director or cinemtographer approved are the 3D versions of Jumper and Predator, but I imagine there are others. |
