Very pleased with this announcement! This movie has a brilliant performance by Jeff Daniels - he plays a character who's hilariously snobby and also strangely pitiable. The dialogue is laugh-out-loud funny.

Been as low as $4 too. Can't speak for the transfer though. With Mill Creek, one never knows. Their quality can range from DVD upscale to surprisingly decent.

However, this movie is so good that even a bargain hunter like me is drooling over the Criterion upgrade.

I remember not liking this one too much. Felt overly pretentious, and the characters were all hollow and cruel.

It's been as low as $.75 if you live near a Fry's. The transfer isn't great. The fact that it shares a disc with "Running with Scissors" and has none of the features from the DVD makes this an obvious upgrade.

No Fry's near me, unfortunately.

That place seems like such a goldmine for deals. 75 cents is nuts for such a great movie (and Running with Scissors, which I've never seen). Really hope you bought it.

Unless you can get it for 75 cents, may as well wait for the Criterion at this point. If you're not sure you'll like the movie though, the usual $5 price on the Mill Creek version is a convenient way to sample it.

Mill Creek release is terrible. This is a 4K remastered presentation with new extras. The Criterion is clearly the way to go.

I can get rid of the previous release now.

This movie is probably going to hit home as strongly as it did back then. It's a pretty dead on portrayal of a bitter divorce from reasonably responsible parents, with the kids stuck squarely in the middle.

I love this movie for that. Nobody else in Hollywood seems to have the balls to tackle a complicated divorce like this, despite how prevalent they are. Half the time in the movies the parents get back together, or at least get along enough to function in social gatherings. Gimme a break.

This was the first Noah Baumbach film I've seen, and it's still my favorite one. Glad to see it's getting the Criterion treatment!
