The Great Gilly Hopkins

Hello Everyone,
The Great Gilly Hopkins had a limited U.S.A release on February 19, 2016 in the Cinema from what I read however the film has already been released in Australia on Blu / DVD

How can this be if it hasn't been released in the U.S. yet on Blu? Will the film get a U.S. release? Seems strange to me.
