like 16/35mm film or movies recorded on sdcam/hdcam and so fourth.
Can you get hdr out of older sources or is it something that has to be recorded specifically with hdr in mind. is hdr going to be the new dnr for older releases? |

Film on the other hand could get use out of HDR and the wider colour gamut of UHD. Film records more information than digital since it doesn't do anything with it. What will make a difference is the film stock that was used, where the source they used to make the new digital master has come from, etc. Even some modern movies are shot on film, the recent Star Wars and Mission Impossible are two of the biggest examples. |

I don't think so. Independence Day looks grainy on the remastered BD abd looks even grainier on the remastered UHD Blu ray but I think that's because it's presenting the source more faithfully.
