PRE-ORDER YOUR LIMITED EDITION FIRST PRESSING TODAY: SHIPPING DATE: APRIL 1st, 2018 CineMuseum Archival Edition Blu-Ray / DVD Combo-Pack Silent screen legend Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle, master of short subject comedies, made his debut as the star of feature length films in George Melford’s production of THE ROUND UP (1920). In this action-packed drama, Arbuckle portrays Sheriff Slim Hoover, a “legitimate” role which not only offers a perfect vehicle for Arbuckle’s clever brand of humor, but also reveals him to be a dramatic actor of the first order! This first class western has everything, including silent film mega-star Buster Keaton in an uncredited cameo as an Apache Indian! Synopsis: After Dick Lane (Irving Cummings) disappears during a prospecting trip, his fiancé Echo Allen (Mabel Julienne Scott) agrees to marry Dick’s friend Jack Payson (Tom Forman) who is harboring a secret about his fallen pal. When “half-breed” Buck McKee (Wallace Beery), a rival for Echo’s affections, robs the express office and points the blame at Jack, it is up to jovial Sheriff Slim Hoover (Roscoe Arbuckle) to solve the crime. Pulled from distribution in 1921, this historic film has been unavailable to the general public for over 95 years – until now. The guy behind CineMuseum is Paul Gierucki, a film restorationist and historian of the highest order, who's absolutely devoted to the preservation of silent comedy and getting it out to the fans in the most pristine and complete versions possible. He is the one that restored and released the excellent The Forgotten Films Of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle DVD set years ago. Buy with confidence.

I'm unfamiliar with CineMuseum products, and it looks like they've never released a Blu-ray before, and the cover has no Blu-ray logo on it. Do we know if the Blu-ray will be pressed (replicated) or burned (duplicated)?

Thanks for letting us know about this release. I've put my order in, and I can't wait to see this one! We need more silent film era movies on blu-ray.
EDIT: I just saw that CineMuseum was also involved with the release of The Mack Sennett Collection, Vol. One! Out of all the discs I own, that collection is one of my absolute favorite releases of all time! Knowing that the same group is behind The Round Up makes me sure that we'll be receiving a quality product. Now, if they could just get around to releasing The Mack Sennett Collection, Vol. Two... Didn't know anything about this release and pre-ordered instantly. Poking around the site shows they've got some great future releases in development, too, including "Blue Collar Keaton", "The Arbuckle Anthology", and maybe most excitingly, a second volume of Mack Sennett shorts.

I've watched it and the two shorts and they look pretty amazing for hundred year old films. A definite recommend if you've got even the slightest interest in silent film. Just a heads-up: it's more of a straightforward Western than a comedy and Arbuckle is part of a larger ensemble rather than the lead actor, if that's important to you.
I've added the basic information to the database here: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-R...3218/#Overview Does anyone know how to add actor/director information? I can't seem to find it anywhere... |

Not sure exactly why there were worries this would be a BDR....Paul Gierucki has been behind some of the best silent comedy releases going back to DVD (terrific Langdon & Arbuckle boxes) and the Mack Sennett Vol. 1 is a major release. The problem for him has been finding labels willing to release his projects, and distribution, since, as you can imagine, these are not going to sell a ton. I wish him well on this (seemingly) first independent BluRay issue. His website promises a follow up Mack Sennett Vol. 2 with 50 more shorts. I’ve been holding on to TCM “rips” since they aired many of these a few years ago. Had rather given up hope that sales of V. 1 were good enough.

The Round Up showed up in the mail yesterday. It's housed in a black DVD case, which may be annoying for those who like uniformity in their Blu-ray collection, but it's an otherwise stellar-looking package with beautiful artwork all around. It's an officially-pressed Blu-ray disc as well.
I'm looking forward to watching the actual film. |
