Come on guys, no one has their copy yet?

That's the last time I take the time to copy and paste someone else's posts (note the incorrect date) to start a thread for you people...

An Academy Award nominated movie only getting a shitty 3,000 copy release? Damn it Twilight Time!

Do we have to do this again? In every Twilight Time thread?

You're DAMNing the wrong folks. TT are the folks actually getting this released.

Your beef is with Sony, who has decided to licensing this out to a third party in limited numbers. Your beef may also be with the general public, who have shown that they're more interested in buying Hop and The Immortals... and not particularly interested in buying catalog titles from 1975.

What's the alternative? Sony releases this wide, no major retailer dedicates any shelf space to it -- most don't even stock it, and the title rots on the vine? Or, even more likely, Sony gets burned a couple of times doing that and stops with catalogs completely, except for the mainstays like Lawrence of Arabia, Tootsie, or Bridge Over River Kwai?

What beef? Has it sold out? No. Is it near selling out? No. Has any Twilight Time title sold out save for Fright Night? No. Are any near selling out? Not really. Therefore 3000 seems to be more than enough for 99% of their titles.

OMG! You have plenty of time to buy a copy! What's the point of releasing more than 3,000 copies of this movie!? It won't sell out for a long time.
I love Twilight Time!!!

Like you I am a Trekkie. And so I know that the inherent logic of the situation will pervade your consciousness at some point. Maybe you'll even seek Kohlinar in TT releases!

Wow, TT has encoded the 5.1 track at 96/24 instead of the usual 48/24. Will have to pop this in the player and see if that makes a difference for a surround bump on a 1975 film...

You act as if Sony was this close to releasing 300,000 copies...

I really wasn't planning on getting this one because I've been spending too much $$.
so what's the scoop--is this movie really that good?
I honestly had never heard of it before TT decided to release it.
I know it's about a cross country horse race right? and Gene Hackman is in it. which is good because I definitely like his work.

Does someone know if the slipcover is offered with the 3,000 copies?
Or do we have to be lucky? (like with their magnets)

EDIT= It seems I misinterpreted the "slip" picture on the item page.
I thought it was a slipcover, it's likely a booklet sadly (available inside the case).
