Default DC Animated Release Dates

Superman: Doomsday

Justice League: The New Frontier

Release dates look to be February 26th.

Personally, if I was Warner Bros., I think this would make a good day to release the upcoming "Smallville: Season One" and "Superman II" on High-Def... but that's just me...

Excellent news! I avoided buying Doomsday on DVD because I knew it would be out on Blu-ray eventually. I'm glad the wait will not be very long. I will definitely pick up that and The New Frontier.

Now they need to release every season of Justice League on BD. The entire series was produced in high-def!

It's been known for a while that it would be coming out on Blu-ray... we just didn't know when until now.

We also knew that JL:TNF would be coming out as well... and I'm not surprised by them releasing them all at the same time.

I still think it would be a good time to release "Smallville: Season One" (which we also know is coming) at the same time... as well as the "Superman II" movie (which we know is coming to HD DVD, and should be on Blu-ray at the same time).

"Batman Begins" would be a good choice as well, but I suspect that they will wait for the "Batman Anime" release (also known to be coming) to release it on Blu-ray.

This is great news. These two popped up on the mysterious WB website 'mistake'. So confirmation of even MORE titles from the 'mistake' list makes me happy and confident that maybe they really are working on some of the other stuff from that list.

As for the content, I've heard mostly bad reviews on Doomsday. Hearing goo things about the production of New Frontier, so I have a little more faith there.

Regardless, I'll pick up both, if only to support animation on Blu.

Even though it was widescreen, I'm guessing Warner was holding off their DC cartoons until they could get a grasp on whether there was a market for even CN Justice League 2-D animation on hi-def--

At least, until Lionsgate got their Marvel cartoons out onto hi-def first and settled the question:
Although "Ultimate Avengers 1&2" seem like just up-ports from the SD master, "Dr. Strange" was mastered for hi-def on the first try, and we can vouch that 2-D comics action on Blu looks pretty darn good...Not the same "leap" ahead of disk that you get with the 3D-CGI animateds, but not too shabby either.

Hope they do up New Frontier right, the books were great! And just bought Darwyn Cooke's (he did the New Frontier books) The Spirit (based on Wil Eisner's Spirit, of course). His drawing style is perfect for The Spirit.

Someone on AVSForum.com posted a link to the rear cover art for "Justice League: The New Frontier".

Rear Cover Art

In case you don't notice it, there's a little something listed called "Dolby TrueHD"!
