Well, that looks terrible. As did the 30th Anniversary edition with basically the same artwork. There's so much they could have done with this movie, but nope - just reuse the old artwork and put a filter on it. Snore.

Sure, it's classic icon imagery for this film. In that regards, it doesn't look as bad as you guys are making it out to be. However, it is of course reeking of laziness nonetheless. It doesn't make me cringe... but it doesn't inspire me to purchase it either.

As you can see they are trying to offer an alternative to the higher priced Asian offering but they are failing miserably. It is obvious that they do not want to spend the time nor the money to do it properly.

It would be nice if you could let them know hey, we like your idea but you are going about it all wrong. Sadly, we all know a message like that would fall upon deaf ears at Zavvi.

I made a comment about it on one of the top gun tweets zavvi posted and just got the reply that it wasn't them that made the slips.

I still remember the headlines in the papers here in the UK when Broderick was fined about £100 for dangerous driving when he killed two people in a head-on when he drove on the wrong side of the road in Northern Ireland...

[Show spoiler]"Ferris Bueller's Let Off".

Well in that case they do not make the steelbooks either, but when it comes down to it they made the conscious decision to decide to take on a half asses attempt at matching the quality you get from places like BluFans, KIMCHI, NOVA, etc.

They could have easily said to whoever made it that they would prefer to do it XYZ way instead of just saying "we'll take it as a cash grab for some extra sales".

Now I do get Zavvi aren't exclusive to steelbooks like the Asian retailers but IMO besides their Disney steelbooks most of the the catalog steelbooks they do besides a few are half assed and are not worth day one prices.

I'd agree with the above. They don't make it. But they also don't have to stock it .

They could say it's lazy

But they don't they hope people will buy any old crap. And thanks to scalpers they do

Will everybody please stop complaing about these slipcovers and comparing them to BluFans, Nova, FilmArena etc...

These are £15. The Asian ones are something like £40-60. You aren't going to get premium sets with booklets and art cards and numbers and all that tat for £15.

Fair enough, you may not like that they have used the same art. But it's more of a bonus. Disney and Marvel steels are £24 and they don't have slipcovers. If you want to go spend £60 on a steelbook that has a different picture on a piece of cardboard go for it. Some us are happy with these.

Sunday is the 21st, Monday is the 22nd - honest mistake! Which one is it?
