yea i just confirmed old steelbook release was region b locked

i guess its a wait and see, i dont think this one will sell out since a lot of people in uk have the previous steelbook

also am i the only one pissed off at Will Smith for not coming back to do the sequel?

It's all M. Night Shyamalan's fault! If it wasn't for his crappy After Earth movie, we'd probably see Smith in this (and not Suicide Squad)

Back then when the original was released they use to lock all the titles they had because they use to support it like crazy. Today different story. Most likely it will be region free given they rarely lock their titles now.

Anyway so looking forward to this one. Can't wait.

Nice artwork, and the price is OK. Plus I don't own this movie on BD yet.

Still haven't ordered from Zavvi despite them having some mighty tempting Steelbooks in the past... but this could be my first.

If I understand correctly, region locking can only be applied on the first release of a title and from that point on within a one year window, any repressing of that title one year after its initial Blu-ray release must be all regions coded.

That's not true. Studios can (and sometimes have to) lock a title for as long and as many versions as they like.

It is true, according to the Blu-ray Disc Association it is a global requirement that has to be enforced worldwide by every company wishing to use region coding. If they produce enough titles that they never need to repress the title, it will always have region coding...but if they replicate a title after that 12 month window they MUST remove RPC.

Obligations: Region coded media shall not be further replicated for such countries after the expiration of such period (12 months after such media was replicated for the first time).

So if a studio does reprints of a blu-ray after 12 month of its initial release, they would have to remove the region code? Or am I reading this wrong?
