I’m hearing Perkins has set up his next project, “The Young People,” which will take place in a middle school. A shoot in early October in Canada has been scheduled. Curiously, Neon — which has distributed his last three films — isn’t attached just yet; this one is an independent production.

“The Young People” follows Sue, who befriends a new classmate named Kitty. At first everything seems perfect, but soon Kitty begins to behave strangely and troubling red flags emerge. No casting details for now, but don’t expect big names, especially for the two leads. [source]

This dude works hard and fast. Kinda have to respect him and his films, even if you feel kinda iffy about em.

He's got a good style to his work. Just hoping his films become scary if possible. Like the movie Smile, that was creepy/scary in contrast to Long Legs, which was creepy, but not scary IMO since the

then it's not scary. Just a matter of the stories.

He tends to have the hero

to the threat. The Monkey for example, the main hero was

for some reason. Same for the lady in Long Legs. Same for the main girl in Blackcoat's Daughter, etc. Same for the girl in Hansel & Gretel,

She only had her entire life ruined. Some things are worse than death.

Sounds like he's going back to the territory of Blackcoat's Daughter based on that description, albeit with the newfound formal confidence he's gained from his last two (three if we're going to count Keeper even though it isn't out yet).

That is true. And not all horror has to scare to be effective in its point of the story. Maybe that's the angle Perkins takes by making his hero character

perishes most times. As in all his films so far from what I've seen in Gretel & Hansel, Blackcoat's Daughter, The Monkey and Long Legs.
