Watched Amour today, and there were two instances in the film where the cinema gasped out loud in shock, which feels like a rarity to me.
So what films genuinely get an out loud response from you? |

Ironic, because he didn't write it...it was an invention of screenwriter Frank Darabont. King reportedly loved it, though, and wish he could have come up with it himself.

I remember going to see Paranormal Activity in theaters and the audience reaction, including mine, with some of those scenes. From what I can remember, there were particularly loud gasps when the scene when the door opens by itself, when the white foot prints appear on the floor and when Katie is pulled out of the bed. Love those kind of horror movie that the audience gets involved like that.

The theatre was full about 30 minutes before it even started and everyone was screaming/jumping. Just complete fun. |

Exactly. I loved the movie itself, but that theater experience made it that much better.

Before I even first saw it, I heard from some friends that the ending was crazy. Then when I saw it myself, I think my mouth just dropped and stayed open for like 2 minutes.

Ah, well I stand corrected. I never read the novella the movie was based on. Either way it was a great ending.

I get that and I agree but I'm not going to huff and puff about it. I gave up on being angered by hollywoods stupid and selfish ways. Once upon a time they took chances on the little guys but those days are gone. It's ALL about money. |

When I saw The Raid in cinemas, it was probably the best experience I've had. Normally I hate when everyone is making noises during a movie but I was right there with them when I saw it. Every time something happened everyone gasped and laughed out of disbelief, myself included. There was that nervous, impressed laugh that says "jesus titty effing christ, surely it can't get any more insane than what I just saw..." after every crazy thing that happened and they just kept one upping it every time so everyone was practically physically exhausted from what they were watching by the half way point.
It's praise like this that lead to a lot of people being disappointed in it, feeling we hyped it up too much. But if you heard next to nothing about it and saw it, and you're into action/martial arts films, it was a one of a kind experience. So much fun. |

Hugh Jackman's performance in 2 scenes from The Fountain get me every time.
1st scene where his wife dies in the hospital and his reaction. 2nd scene where he sees the ghost of his wife morph into the Queen on the ship. Both of those scenes give me a massive lump in my throat. |
