Default The Hunt for Red October problem?!

So I bought The Hunt for Red October when it was first released in 2008 and it played fine. So I try to play it last night and it freezes at 1:07.08 causing the entire BD to lock up. So I thought it might be that I had Any DVD HD turned on so I turned that off and it still froze. So then I tried a different version of PowerDVD and it still froze. Finally, I tried a standalone player and it still froze. Has anyone else had this problem? It's obvious it's the disc, but is it an isolated incident?

I had this exact same scenario happen with my UK copy of 28 Days Later. I suspect some BD's are going bad.

I only played my Red October disk once so far and it worked then. Will retest later for you.

Just played it and it worked fine. My copy is the original Blu Ray cover.

I appreciate it. I am not sure what would cause this though. The time code almost makes me think it's where the disc has to change from the first to second layer.

It's right before the torpedo reaches the countermeasures that is dropped by the Bear Foxtrot.

I played that part over twice with no glitches.

Using a PS3.

Just checked my copy by skipping through some chapters.
Played fine, including that scene.

Ok, so mine is ok at 1:07.08 played just fine. I skipped there because I couldn't remember when mine had the freezing issue. I'll have to go back and play the whole movie some time when my girlfriend isn't home.

UPDATE - So I emailed Paramount about 3 weeks ago telling them of the problem, and after a few back and forth emails from them (questions about BR players, disc, etc), they sent me another BR disc (disc only, no cover) of Hunt for Red October. Haven't had a chance to watch it and make sure it's good, but they were very gracious about it.

Also got a free BR case out of it.

I know this thread is ten years old, but the same thing just happened to my copy of RED OCTOBER! Played fine a few months ago, now it acts up around the portion of the movie. No scratches. Fortunately, I bought this on Ebay a couple of years ago for very little $.

Yep, I came to the conclusion that it had to be a bad batch of discs. If you get a BD with the new cover art instead of the old then you should be good.
