I am looking to get a new 4K TV, I will be getting a 40 to 43 inch set, don't tell me I need a bigger one, I am getting one in this size range definitely. I see Samsung makes a model they released in 2017 that is 40 inches, and Sony and LG have a 2017 model that are 43 inches. I was wondering what some of you who may have these new 2017 models think of them, and which may be better than others? Also I am probably going to get a 4K UHD blu ray player at some point soon also, so I need it to support that. I do not care if the TV is a smart TV, I have a ROKU ultra box that supports 4K so a smart tv is not something I need. Also are any of the no name 4k TV's any good at all? Or are they something to stay away from? I ask because they are cheap, but if they are no good it doesn't matter how cheap they are I don't want one.

I think this is your best bet. It gives you what you're looking for plus 2017 tech:

With $800, you should be able to get something. Shop around (amazon, BB, etc), you might get lucky and run into a great deal. Just do you homework and do a lot of comparison/window shopping.

I have the same kinda questions myself/ My situation is ive been saving for a while now, and would like to get a 4k HD TV. I have a ton of VHS & Laserdisc, DVD, Blurays. I have Playstation 3 & 4. I have seki Bluray player for region free. My budget now is at $1K to $1500. I would want to buy a 4k Bluray player as well Id like it to have usb on front for media playback for thumb drive if possible as well. Isa 2 or 300 dollar 4k Bluray as good as a $4-5 or above say oppo get the job done well? I Like Sony equipment, but not married to it if better set is available. Im thinking of getting at least 40 to 50 possibly bigger if price is right. I see that prices are dropping, should i be buying in summer or wait til fall when more sales are near holidays, or new models out?? Is the Dolbyvision vs. HDR10 something i need to worry about?(Beta vs. VHS, HD-DVD Vs. Bluray type wars??) I like a lot of imputs in the set HDMI, Component, SVHS if possible). I have a sony stereo system hooked up now ive had it for a while its a all in one system i got in 08 should i look for a new system with true HD sound? Is there "special " HDMI cables that i would need for a 4k set or are the standard ones ok?
Are all the new sets now Smart TVs, or does it even matter? Do all the new sets do softare upgrades and apps via Ethernet or Wireless or both? sorry if im blather on but any advice given is appreciated. |

Unfortunately you are out of luck! because of the Analog sunset all of the inputs on tv's have disappeared. now there is really only HDMI, if you really want more than that due to the nature of your other devices, you would have to purchase either an older TV(USED), a projector, or a good A/V reciever that might still have all the inputs you want and can pass through a 4k signal.

I wouldn't even consider VHS and laserdisc for buying a UHDTV because, those video formats will look absolutely terrible on an 4K TV and even bad on a 1080p HDTV.
