It seems that Stay (2005) with Ewan McGregor, Ryan Gosling, and Naomi Watts was released in Germany by Studio Canal back on Aug 18, 2001. Seems that no one noticed around here and there doesn't seem to be a thread on it.

I'm a fan of the movie, even though it was dismissed by almost all of the critics. I would like to import it, but can't find out if it has forced German subtitles. Looks to have English DTS 5.1 master audio, but unconfirmed if its forced subs.

Can anyone confirm? Does Studio Canal do that on all of their Blu?

Just received this today from Amazon DE. So glad to finally have it in my collection! I've updated the specs in the database to reflect the actual disc specs:



Yet another German release with a reversible cover sans ratings logo. Coming from Australia, another country where out ratings logos are about the same size, this approach is excellent and I wish more studios did it.

I won't get around to watching it tonight but it will be getting played very soon. I'm interested to see how it stacks up against our local (Australian) DVD which was released by 20th Century Fox.

Yeah, I put on one scene and it's very noticeable. The DVD was an edge enhanced mess so even a minor upgrade would be easy to spot but it's quite significant.

There's no problematic 50Hz content prior to the film but it is B locked so if you can't play a region B disc you're out of luck.

I notice, Stay has been airing quite often on the Cinemax channels.
In my experience, and mentioned by many members here, when a catalogue title gets played like crazy, it's usually followed by a blu-ray release.

I remember Copland not being on blu (in the States) and I was dying for Copland on blu-ray. One week it started airing on Starz or Cinamax, i dvrd it. Then soon later its announced that its coming out on blu.

There's many examples of this.

Any chance that's gonna be the case here?

I also would love a U.S. BLURAY release of this as well. The movie has its problems, but there are some great moments, and the acting is terrific as well.

I had forgotten that Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts had done a film together prior to The Impossible. Ryan Gosling is very good too in his follow up to The Notebook proving he wasn't going to allow himself to be typecast as the hunky romantic leading man.

It's a shame this still isn't available on blu-ray in Region A.

I finally went region-free a few months ago and this was delivered today. I hadn't seen it in a long time and it was fantastic. I love all of the dream imagery and the soundtrack is excellent as well.
