Mylène Farmer - Les Clips - L'Intégrale 1999-2020 Blu-ray

I ordered the BR version of this from Amazon France and received an e-mail saying it was being dispatched. The next day I received an e-mail saying there was a problem and I was being refunded. Amazon still shows my order although I'm not hopeful and also the BR is sometimes shown as available and then it isn't (and also the price goes up and down). I tried FNAC but it said it wasn't available outside France after filling in all the details.

So far I can't find it on any site outside France (I'm in the UK) and I don't know if Brexit has screwed things.

The DVD version seems to be easily available but I don't want that version.

Has there been a problem with this release?

I've experienced similar problems with Amazon.fr. Not at one point I was able to preorder the set and on the release day it was allegedly sold out. I ended up using Fnac.com and got it from them within 3 days from France to Germany.

My copy had a dent in the box which is pretty annoying given how colletable Ms Farmer is!
By the way are you aware that Universal are releasing another Best Of for her older catalogue, it has 3 vinyl version, and a 2CD and a 2CD+DVD version.

Edit: ouch, fnac is indeed apparently sold out of the BD version.
I mean you can still wait for the regular edition to come out I guess, but it's not the same for fans.

I'm going to wait and see if it becomes available more widely (maybe even the UK site). There definitely seems to be something strange about this release as it becomes available for a while, then disappears, then is a lot more expensive (or sometimes cheap). There appears to be no problems with the DVD version so have they miscalculated the demand for the Blu-ray version?

Well, I don't know if you're new to Mylene Farmer but basically the limited editions always sell out really fast, and in this case, even though maybe not listed as limited, they are limited editions (book-versions in thick heavy cardboard slipcases) and given it was the premiere in HD of the clips I am not surprised the BD is already sold out.
I am pretty sure they will issue a regular-case version in a couple of months if not weeks.
All Mylene Farmer non-standard sells-out really fast.
Also it never gets listed for sale outside of France or Switzerland unless they print versions for other markets but that hasn't happened in quite a long time so if you choose to wait, you will probably have to make do with the regular version.

I have a reasonably large collection of Myène Farmer CDs and Blu-Rays/DVDs, but I don't always go for the limited edition items (I do have some), so I'll be happy to wait for a more basic Blu-Ray version.

Gotcha, she's one of my favorite performers and I'm really into the limited stuff and so far I've only missed out on the 7" picture disc that goes for crazeeeee money, since I started collecting her.

I ordered it again from Amazon.fr and it arrived today. Don't know why there was a problem with the previous attempt but this order went through without any hitches. Looking forward to watching it as she always produces excellent videos.

To be honest some of the ones from the late 90s onwards are quite basic in that I wonder how that is possible considering she basically made short movies for her early clips and the others until the end of the 90s they were stunning.
Ironically all those are missing from this compilation

Given that Universal is just about to cash in on her releasing Les Clips L'integrale by releasing the earlier material that she sold the rights to (I think that's what appears to have happened) and they are just slapping a DVD on a 2CD compilation with the ugliest artwork of the year, I fear not.
Shame, because the early ones could be upgraded, they were shot on film quite obviously.

I'm afraid I can't advise there, I only own the single DVD releases of her Video collections (Music Videos I, II, III etc).
As for selling her rights, I'm not sure exactly what she did, I'm not a die hard fan to that level, but it's clear there is a division of "ownership" as anything pre-Innamoramento is not being included in her current releases (the last "Best-of" had only live versions of that material and only studio version of anything after that, and as you can see in this video companion, anything pre-Innamoramento is missing altogether, and only the pre-Innamoramento audio and video is being released by another label, the same that is only releasing her old stuff.
I know it's her most successful era!

I've been hoping for years for an HD remastering of the early videos, mainly because it was rumoured that Laurent Boutonnat had the original copies on film and it was his intention to do so.

The release of this "best of" with only one DVD was a big disappointment... I am at least consoled by the idea of having all the clips from the first part of her career on one disc, but without the behind-the-scenes footage (I think?).

You guys braced yourself when you read the news about the huge collector's box for Avant Que L'Ombre....? I think it's 7CD/2CD and also a 15LP version.
But no version includes the BD which is really weird.
Maybe holding off for a 7CD/2BD version down the line.

I don't speak French. So I've been spending the last two weeks subtitling that entire Blu-ray. Thankfully, there are only two songs left now. After that, I'll hand all 1100+ lines over to the French speaker who is helping me, so that he can advise on the non-lyrics and some of the lyrical translations. It's my second fansub and came together much better than the one I did for Mylene Farmer Live 2019. I did Undress Me today, which is more amusing now that I actually understand most of it.

Oh you should not do that, it will ruin it. I think that one does need to even understand the lyrics of music. It can enhance the experience but it can also have the opposite effect. I think one not being of that mother tongue, even if understand it perfectly, can sort of decide not to turn on the translator in your brain when listening to music. At least that's pretty much how I function.
But I can understand the desire to have a rough idea what the song's lyric say.

The thought did occur to me multiple times through this month-long project. (I did all three of my MF movies.) It's why I will never muxe the documents into the rips, no matter how good I may eventually get them. They are flawed by nature. The way she plays with words just doesn't translate. The poetry is diminished. But when I watched Live 2019 and Avant que l'ombre... à Bercy without my subs last year I remember wishing that I had some idea of what she was talking about. So I tried to write the translations as well as I could and kept bugging the French speaker I was working with.

Her music videos are completely pointless to translate, however, because there is too much happening that you should be paying attention to.

I got the 2 blu-ray discs music videos and bonus last week: the person that designed the box is clueless: I almost ripped the box opening it before realizing you have to toss it upside down for the booklet containing the blu-ray to slide out. They could have made a booklet-magnet type of opening instead of having the toss the book out of it book handler. The blu-ray disc holder is rigid paper that keeps the blu-rays from falling out, yet when I tried to pull a blu-ray out, I almost damaged the booklet papers: I would have preferred plastic or rubber holders instead. Otherwise, the videoclips look nice: some are obvious upscales while others are remastered more or less properly.
