Not much of a review from me as I saw it quite a while ago, but it was a little strange, I struggled to keep up with what was going on and as a consequence lost concentration.

My main reason for watching was that it had Sarah Michelle Gellar in it.

I will have to dig it out and have another go. My advice is grab a rental copy and see what you think.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Definitely rent it first. I thought it was pretty cool, but I'm not sure it would be worth owning. Definitely an interesting movie though - not cookie cutter.

(I haven't seen the BD version, just DVD, so I can't comment on PQ and AQ.)

I liked it, but it's not for everyone. The Blu-Ray has a commentary by Richard Kelly that may explain the story better, but I haven't listened to it yet.

I was amazed and thrilled by it. But yet I can't really tell you what it was about. I just got immersed in the crazy set and characters.

I should admit that I really dig movies that most would call "weird". Try this on for size... I loved "Brown Bunny".

I really need to watch Southland Tales again. All I know is that I anxiously awaited the BD and bought it the day it came out.

Southland Tales is definitely a film you should rent first before purchasing because there's no way of any of us knowing how you'd react. Some loved it. The majority hated it, though.

I was looking forward to it for quite a while since it had an interesting concept plus the gorgeous Sarah Michelle Gellar, but I was very disappointed. Richard Kelly tried to jam too many incoherent plotlines into a film that ultimately in the end never makes sense even if you know that it's a loose modern-day interpretation of the Book of Relevations. It was an ambitious film at least, which is saying something considering most of the popular films these days.

I may decide to give it a rent to watch it again, but I couldn't really imagine owning it 'cause I really wouldn't watch very much. I really wanted to like the film. I respect the ambition behind it, but it ultimately fails in the end.

I really enjoyed it, but I like almost everything that Richard Kelley has put out.

ya thats basically how i felt. richard kelly just tried way too hard on this one, and it comes off like an even more insane version of Donnie Darko, but without the heart, and without any kind of coherence. I did however, still manage to find some entertainment value in it. I think a second viewing will be even more enjoyable

It had no real plot or story that you could understand and follow. I found myself to be extremely bored and lost interest which sucks because I really like the cast. I watched it once on dvd and couldnt wait for it to end.

It's a good movie to just sit back and watch, but don't expect it to make any sense. It was a good ride, it just didn't go anywhere.

well thats not really true. The movie does make sense...its just so far caught up in the depths of Kelly's head that it takes a lot more time and effort to figure out than the film is worth.

I think most of Kelley's films are like that. Part of the reason I like them so much.

This is the only movie in my collection (of over 1500) that I have ever stopped and never watched again. I will watch anything with Mandy Moore in it, but this one was asking alot.

Don't deny yourself if you are curious, just because some of us don't like it...you may enjoy it...just don't spend a large sum on it at first.

He wrote the script for Domino. In addition he wrote and directed Southland Tales and Donnie Darko.

Is that not enough?
