Billy Bathgate/ Blaze Combo - Blu-ray Forum

I picked this up for 3 bucks. I know the sources and such are not great but BB got a decent review and Blaze PQ is probably just okay. But for 3 bucks why not? What do you all think of these films. I have never seen them but have wanted to see BB for some time. I love Paul Newman and heard that Blaze was actually good too.

I actually quite liked Billy Bathgate which is why I picked it up. Blaze isn't too bad, not exactly oscar winning or anything but it passes the time

Does anyone know if the Billy Bathgate discs is region free ?

I just checked this version:

It played for both Regions A and B in the modded player that I have. The back cover only lists it as Region A compatible, but that appears to be incorrect.

Thats very helpful, thanks ! I presume your pack is just the two regular discs in one keepcase.

All of these Sony double-feature releases from Mill Creek are one disc.

At least they're dual layer.

Oh - did not expect that ! I'll need to seek confirmation on the single Billy Bathgate disc then. Thanks for letting me know, I was about to buy it !

Watched Billy Bathgate again recently for the first time in many years and enjoyed it. It's a bit of a shame that it was such a flop at the box office. It's often criticised for being bland, but that's perhaps slightly unfair, as the world shown in the film is quite convincingly created. I think the narrow focus and predictability of certain parts of the narrative are more of a weakness. Still, worth watching for some elegantly shot scenes and good work by Steven Hill and Steve Buscemi.

And it's another gangster picture I'm glad to have in my collection. I'm still wondering if the same year's Bugsy will ever get a Blu-ray release.
