Default Dolby Vision - B&W Content

I bought the UHD of Dr. Strangelove today, it isn't DV encoded.

Does Dolby Vision enhance B&W content or is it only useful with color content?

The Digital 4K version has Dolby Vision via iTunes. FYI

The first thing I notice whenever I put on a UHD Blu-ray is not the color, but the absolutely unreal amount of contrast, and dynamic metadata allows more precise contrast on each individual frame than static metadata. It makes bright spots bright and dark spots dark. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a black and white or color film. Although there probably won’t be a difference in contrast between an HDR10 disc and a Dolby Vision stream as streams are much more compressed than discs.

Dynamic range is entirely independent from whether the content was captured in colour or black & white.
