Schramm is by far his best movie IMO.

Nekromantik 2 is better than the first, and Schramm is better than both of those. I do hope they get around to Der Todesking as Barrel went belly up before they released that one on DVD. And I can't remember if "Corpse F*ing Art", the documentary on the making of Nek was included on the Barrel releases - I don't think it was. Film Threat released that separately as a VHS way, way back.
Have to laugh at these revisions to limited edition #'s, though. First, Shout with Nightbreed jumping from 5,000 to 10,000 because 1,000 sold out overnight, and now Nekromantik jumps from 2,000 to 10,000! Well, if they got 5,500 orders from their distributor, I guess that makes sense, but I bet that high number was solely because of its super limited nature. Now that it's 10,000, they may get a ton of returns from their distributor when thousands remain unsold as no one will be in a rush to buy it anymore. Seriously, are there really 10,000 fans of this film, and that will dish out $30 for the Blu and/or the DVD (and is the DVD version a separate 10,000?!?!) This may come back to bite them, but I wish them luck as I like their releases and want more. |

Interesting. I really enjoyed the first one due to it's rough around the edges mix of romance, true sick to your stomach shock value and artistry coupled with an awesome score.
I've just watched the 2nd for the first time and found it tiresome. It's in dire need of a tough new edit, the score is now repetitive and the romance and gore just comes across as a poor copy of the first. What it is is a more polished film, but IMO that actually detracts from the atmosphere of the first. I will pay it some complement though, it's got some great black humour in there, like [Show spoiler] . Maybe it would have worked for me had it had a lot more dark laughs.

Both of these films are on Shudder. For 4.99(1month membership) you can watch these films first before you plunk down a bunch of money. Shudder is a great service for not having to blind buy and be disappointed. I bought Demons 1 and 2 because of this service. They have lots of obscure older flicks.
