Default iTunes Original Content

Apple have started development on some new original content for iTunes.

Does anyone know yet if these shows and movies will be subscription based or purchase only?

Also, some countries don't have a TV section in iTunes. Is it likely that the fact these new TV shows belong to Apple mean they can distribute them without much legal hassle?

Apple already has original programming:

Carpool Karaoke and Planet of the Apps are iTunes Music subscriber exclusive.

Need an AppleTV 4 or higher to watch on a big screen. Otherwise, iPhone or iPad will work.

That isn't exactly in the same league as the big budget TV series they have announced.

I don't follow what you mean about those shows being available on the different devices. I was asking about distribution in countries that don't currently have a TV section in iTunes.

As far as I know, Apple hasn't announced any pricing or delivery strategy for these bigger budget, scripted series they have in development.

...but, if I had to guess, it will likely be:
  • A monthly, all-you-can-eat subscription service like Netflix, as a standalone service or as an add-on to a rebranded Apple Music subscription
  • Individual seasons/episodes will *not* be available separately for purchase or rental (they want you to subscribe)
  • Accessible only through TV.app on iOS devices or TV section in iTunes on Mac/Windows desktop
  • Not available at all in countries that don't have Apple Music and/or TV.app
  • Some kind of free tier for Apple TV devices
