United Kingdom Flixter UK and Sony UV Codes

Just recently new Sony releases aren't showing up to redeem on Flixter. Recently bought Magnificent 7, Don't Breathe and Inferno and none are on Flixter. Does anyone know if or why Sony stopped making them available? Only started using Flixter at Christmas and was able to redeem all codes until recently.

I noticed that Fox titles stopped showing up on flixster for redeeming as well but I must admit I not paid attention to Sony titles but having just looked your right not many new Sony titles. Fox only points people to talktalk for ultraviolet and not flixster anymore.

I am wondering if flixster is slowly winding down or other studios are trying to reduce relying on flixster for redeeming codes. I saw on myuv.com that they added images but no links for Universal and Lionsgate. I wonder if they would be doing their own at some point for redeeming and streaming and leave flixster as well.

Yeah, there is something going on. I don't redeem my Blurays as I dont watch on anything but a home cinema but the covers have been odd lately with little mention of Ultraviolet let alone Flixster.

I watch on my TV blu-rays, Netflix amazon and recently sky on demand. I don't watch the digital copies on my TV unless I am not well and really can't be arsed to move which is an extreme rarity. My digital copies tent to get watched more by family members rather then watching my blu-rays.

I do like the idea of the digital copy as a backup but the current level of quality these services offer in the UK are well not up to par. Only one I consider good on the HD front is amazon. Netflix 4k and Amazon 4k do look like blu-ray quality on the other hand.

I had noticed that some warner shows that would of turned UV have not and universal had one TV show not go UV unlike the previous season. I am wondering if UV is coming to an end here in the UK. I did read somewhere that the UK still prefers physical media and digital has not had the same success so that may be a factor since a few had shutdown but to be fair the quality they not offered enough to warrant charging when they been asking the price of a blu-ray or more and the PQ and AQ no where near matching the price.

I think half the problem with digital in the U.K. is the speeds of the internet. Maybe in cities it might be fast enough but in the rest of the country maybe not. I don’t think a lot of people in the U.K. are even aware of what UV is. Your average U.K. customer is probably non the wiser about it all!

With TalkTalk pulling out of Ultraviolet at the end of this week, it will be interesting to see where it will point people to redeem codes.

Yes, I was thinking that aswell. If you can’t redeem on Flixster then the digital copy will be useless once TTtv shuts down.

If people then took their copies back to the shop or sent them back for a refund maybe the studios will take note.

The last 2 codes I purchased on here (can’t remember which studio the movies were from) only had the option to redeem on Google Play, so wonder if that will be the default place to redeem digital codes ??

I realise that.....

However, the last 2 codes I tried to redeem stated UV on the redeem page, but only offered redemption at Google Play.

My concerns with how Digital Copies are going in the U.K. is that with the loss of TalkTalk I now have more titles that I have nowhere to ‘legally’ play as many of my titles in Flixster have ‘Playback Unavailable’ underneath them.

If (and that’s a big if) MA did laugh in the U.K. whilst we would potentially easily be able to our iTunes and Google Play Accounts, how would we get our UV titles linked as in the US Flixster wasn’t one of the providers that had signed up to MA.

Going forward I think that I will keep my purchases to iTunes as I can’t see that going away..

We’re like poor cousins to the US! Some of mine say that like Casualties of War. It’s not playable on Flixster.

I think if Movies Anywhere launches here they might manage to get Flixster on board, they didn't join MA in America maybe because they were closing down over there. Failing that they could allow users to just link their myuv.com accounts to port the movies over.

But for the meantime what I think is going to happen is, studios are going to slowly move away from UV and allow digital redemption in Google Play (they wouldn't want to deal with iTunes, which is a shame). UV will be phased out completely when Flixster eventually packs up in the UK, which could happen this year and people will lose their collections (perhaps this might prompt them to launch MA over here, but it depends on how much they care and how successful it's proven for them over in the US).

It's best if purchasing digital movies to stick to either Google, Amazon or iTunes as they won't be going anywhere anytime soon, even if MA doesn't launch here.

Ive had 2 films this week from Universal , The Mummy and American Made and both will only redeem through Flixster ( not ) . When I try to redeem they either say that they have redeemed ( they have not ) or I get referred to the now defunct U.S. Flixster site which recommends Vudu which , of course , I can't use . Oh! and everything already in my Flixster Collection is now 'Playback Unavailable' and therefore useless !

Ridiculous system . There should be no Region Coding associated with Digital Redemption just like 4K UHD .

But iTunes isn’t UV either! But I would go with them in flash too, due to the free upgrades you are likely to get.

You’re right they’re not but I’ve an iTunes account. I haven’t bothered with Google Play. When I redeemed those codes I mentioned they were upgraded to 4k hdr/DV straight away and they have bonus features aswell. Far superior to UV. The only issue with that is if you haven’t got an iPhone or iPad etc you won’t get all that, you’ll only have the option to watch a bog standard HD version on Google Play.
