TRue, i just played son xvid files, they work fine. Could it be because of the low bitrate of the files?

copy the xvid to your HDD and see if it plays. Some people have said they had to do that on some Xvid profiles.

divx and xvid are equivalent (xvid is open source implementation of divx). make sure that your avi file contains a divx/xvid data!

Just because a file is encoded in Xvid does not mean it will play. There are a lot of different types of Xvid.. especially in the audio codec. Some xvid files are in mkv container with multiple language and subtitle track support. Some use ac3 audio, some are ogm..etc. At least in my experience. I have not toyed with it much yet to see which ones work and which ones do not.

What is the extension on the file? What all codecs were used to create the file?

Wasnt there a 2G limitation for playback? Greater than 2G -- it must have some sort of DRM scheme.
