Finding Nemo - Blu-ray Forum

I just went through my list of titles in my transaction history and saw that Finding Nemo is there as SD. I have absolutely no idea how I redeemed it or first got it. I just know that it's HDX on Vudu.

However, when I contacted MA, they told me that it's SD-only in their library.

This is the exact email I received:

I have it in HD on Movies Anywhere. Mine came from the 2016 reissue (Blu-ray/Digital HD.)

Right. But MA is saying they don't have it in HD in their library. That can't be possible.

Mine says HD via Disney Movies Rewards and SD via iTunes.

Redeemed through the old Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu-ray. The MA transaction history just looks broken.

But are you able to watch it in HD on MA? Or iTunes?

They're claiming that they don't have HD on their system.

HDX in Vudu; HD in Amazon, Google Play, and iTunes. I even have the iTunes Extras so I know its at least HD.

I don't use MA to watch movies since I'll only be stuck to a computer. And I can't see what the quality is during playback.

How can you tell what resolution you have it in on Google and Amazon?

On XBox One, it shows an HD icon which is at least 720p.

Also, I just checked on my XBox One, via YouTube which added a Quality option under More Options. I click that it shows the maximum resolution I can set output for which for Nemo shows 1080p.

You're right. So iTunes is the only place that's showing SD for me.

Are they going to blame it on iTunes now?

It still doesn't change the fact that they're claiming that their service only has it in SD. That makes absolutely no sense.

Just double checked: its HD in my iTunes.

There is this thing called Blu-Ray, I hear the picture and audio quality is pretty good. Might want to check into that.

I already own it. My digital copies are my back-up and what my family watch my movies on.

They had to manually upgrade it to HD on my account...and it's still SD on iTunes

I've disconnected and reconnected my account and it remains SD. Any advice?

Apparently Apple is aware that it has an issue with some Disney titles and has someone working on it according to this thread.

iTunes currently shows SD, but I don't have my AppleTV currently hooked up so I'm not sure what it would show at the moment.

MA shows I redeemed my copy on 12 Dec 2012 which would mean I redeemed the copy through iTunes since I have the Finding Nemo 3D which included an iTunes (XML) and PC digital copy.

My transaction history doesn't show a Disney Movie Rewards redemption either and I just noticed that I never redeemed the points in DMR. Back when DMA existed, if you linked your DMR account to DMA the eligible titles would port over in HD as well. Unfortunately, DMA is now gone and MA doesn't have a similar option.

Edit: I had this title, as well as some others, already downloaded. After deleting the files from the respective file folder on the HDD and then in iTunes telling it to remove the download for the title, the titles updated in iTunes to show HD.

It's not just Disney titles, rather XML iTunes redemptions. It appears they're correcting the "free XML upgrade to HD" that you could get before 11/17/17. iTunes shows SD (Video) for these titles, even if VUDU/Amazon/GPS has them in HD for you.

My theory: what happens is when you look in iTunes, or try to playback via Apple TV, the MA entitlements (e.g. HD) vs the iTunes entitlements (SD) kind of fight each other. Most of the time, iTunes overrides, but not always.

I have spend an hour on the phone with MA about this, and several email exchanges.

The only real solution is to purchase/redeem a real HD copy of the title.
