I have gone through my collection and pulled a frighteningly amazing stash of unused codes.
Many show an expiration date that has passed. How can I check to see if these downloads may still be available without actually downloading it yet? (Sorta like how you can check the balance of a gift card without spending yet) Thanks ![]() |

Most digital code expiration dates are irrelevent, they rarely every actually expire. The only exception is Walmart/Vudu specific offers. It is usually safe to assume digital copies are still live.
Since you can no longer redeem on myuv.com I think the current best way to check if valid is to log out of Vudu and enter redemption info, if valid it will say so and ask you to log in or if invalid will just give an error. |

What's the use of checking a code if you're not going to redeem it but if so, then check it. Even though the code expiration date has passed and still may be redeemable, the studios give the consumers ample enough time to redeem their digital codes because, the majority of the codes expires a year later after the blu-ray or DVD release. Some people deliberately procrastinate or neglect to redeem the code(s), and take for granted that they're still going to be valid 2-3 years later, which there is no excuse.

I check because I sell/trade them on here. I usually check through Vudu, but not all codes redeem through there. I already knew most codes are still valid after expiration date. Just wanted to know if I could test codes without redeeming through Sony. |

The way to check them is open an alternate browser That you don't normally use, like the basic "internet" browser on your phone tablet or an alternate on your computer. Then go to vudu redeem OR Movies anywhere redeem page. DO NOT SIGN IN. Then enter your code. On Movies anywhere if code is still valid it when then show you code details and ask you to login to redeem, then you close the browser or tab without redeeming. On Vudu it won't show you the details it will just go straight to a sign in page, same thing don't login. If the code is no longer valid or has been used, like if you got it in a used movie it will say on MA "code has been used" or "we don't recognize "..vudu will just say "something is wrong". Movies anywhere gives you more information, but not all studios port or are available with movies anywhere so sometimes you have to check vudu if it doesn't work on MA.
Hope that helps. |
