Are there 2 different releases of Gattaca?

Looking to purchase a copy of Gattaca, I am unsure if there are 2 separate versions of this film or if one has a slipcover or........*what*?

This version:

seems to be often referred to as the "Special Edition", despite not stating so on the cover......

While this version:


Clearly states "SPECIAL EDITION" yet is not referred to in that manner.

I did a thread search, and didn't locate one, so if this has been answered elsewhere, please post a link to the thread and merge.

There is definitely only one Blu-ray for the U.S. That looks like it might be artwork from a different country.

The first picture is the artwork that was initially announced for the Gattaca Blu-ray. Before release, the artwork was changed to the second picture, and that is what ended up in stores. To the best of my knowledge, no actual BDs were ever produced with the first cover (at least in the US - though I don't think this title has even been released overseas yet anyway).

There are several auctions on Ebay for Gattaca and it pretty much runs 50/50 for the artwork although, like I said, some of them indicate "Special Edition" for the greenish artwork, but not on the bluish artwork.

I am figuring they are just using "Stock Photo" without proper matching.
