Default 70s/80s/90s 4k blu rays that are worth the upgrade?

Wife and I are going to get a 4k player because of the holidays sales. We have been eyeballing a few movies to get in 4k like hereditary, die hard, predator collection, dark crystal.

What i wanted was some recommendations on some for us to check out. We arent like diehard cinephiles. We dont want to upgrade a blu ray just because of some semi noticeable differences. So were looking for 4ks that have a noticeable upgrade to them.

To help narrow down reccomendations for us here are some guidelines

Our favorite time period is 70s/80s and some of the 90s.

We like horror, scifi, and just strange movies in general.

Thanks.

I think it would probably be a lot easier to develop and maintain a list of those that aren't worth the upgrade. So far, that would be a short list.

Of all the UHDs I've seen so far, I haven't been too disappointed in any from any era (although I have avoided T2 like the plague). I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

But the most noticeable and pleasing upgrades I've seen have been:

Saving Private Ryan
Blade Runner
Starship Troopers
The Mummy '99
The Big Lebowski
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
The Matrix (all three are decent, really)
Mission Impossible 1 and 2
Groundhog Day
Predator
The Evil Dead
Christine
Halloween
American Psycho
Air Force One
Rambo I, II, III
Apollo 13
Die Hard
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (both really)

Some, like The Fifth Element, Leon: The Professional, Bram Stoker's Dracula, are superb as well, but if you have their remastered Blu-Rays you might not see a huge differenc (other than HDR).

Forrest Gump is strangely underwhelming to my eyes. I've also seen a lot of praise for Braveheart and Jurassic Park, but when I looked at them I found them rather dim.

Superman: The Movie struck me as a mixed bag,

Independence Day looks sharp and all, but I was utterly let down by the compression noise.

Haven't looked at Bad Boys, A Few Good Men, Men in Black, Jumanji, ET, Close Encounters, the Quick and the Dead, Ghostbusters, or Hook yet. I expect all of these to look great though.

That will be in the eye of the beholder. Some people on here see huge differences. I on the other hand see very little difference in most of the 4K upgrades. Of course a lot depends on how you are watching them. If you are watching on a 300" screen from 4 feet away you will will see more of a difference than if you are watching on a 50" screen from 10 feet away.

Also we are at the mercy of the source material. A lot of older movies, especially low budget movies weren't exactly good looking to begin with.
