I am just plain confused. Why is my player taking long to read a disc and then shows no read disc. I am seeking answers, will appreciate any help thanks

Dirty disc, bad disc or bad laser. How other discs work and have you tried to clean or even wash the disc in question? I assume it's a pressed 4K disc?

Have you tried disc in another player?
What is the disc? Blu or UHD.
Have you tried clearing storage?

I don't have any issues with my UB9000. It's hard to say what the problem is but check and see if the disc is dirty like finger prints or smudges. If that's ok than try some other discs and see how they play. If you still have issues it points to your optical drive. At this point try a laser lens cleaner disc for Blu-ray and see if it helps. If it doesn't than your optical drive needs repair unfortunately if your issues persist with this machine. Last resort leave machine unplugged for the night from wall outlet and plug it back in. Sometimes it resets the optical drive.

The laser associated with the disc you are playing may not be working. When you insert a disc, the drive first checks if it is a BD, then if the BD laser does not reflect back, it will move to the DVD laser, and if that does not reflect back, it will try to read the disc as if it were a CD. Since the disc is not a CD, it will just keep trying and trying but never read it. You may have a lemon. Try contacting Panasonic for service.

Old thread, but in case anyone is having problems still, it may be the lack of storage space on the player. I had problems with my UB9000 being inconsistent in reading UHDs, and the tech I talked to said most all players have this problem with double/triple layer discs. His recommendation to me was to erase the bd data frequently or buy a usb expansion flash drive to put in the front of the player that was 8gb or higher. He said all players have this problem except the ps5 and xbox because they have adequate ram/storage.

don't know but this solution seemed to work for me

I just got a UB420 two days ago and no issues yet but any instructions on how to erase the bd data on that model?

I'm thinking it's probably similar. It's in the system settings I believe probably near the firmware update and factory reset options. I think most players have it labeled "erase bd data"
