This is just going in am extra room that doesn’t have 4K (8 year old Samsung 1080p non smart TV). I use it when I’m working out for Netflix mainly.
I would also like if it had typical TV apps: Vudu Amz Prime Disney Jr (for daughter) Etc. I would like something quick and that has a dedicated remote (not Chromecast where I would have to use my phone). Thanks! |

I never had a problem with Wifi or menu navigation on any of my Rokus. If you want something low-priced with lots of apps, the Roku is IMO the best choice.

Yeah a Roku Express is the way to go. It performs way better than any of the built in steaming I've experienced in say a Blu-Ray player or TV. Good interface that's quick and I rarely have an issue with buffering. (Mines on WiFi) Great device and I'm glad I bought it.

Don’t get the very smallest Roku. Get at least the next smallest one.

If you have good Wifi coverage in the room, the 802.11ac won't make a difference. If you want to use the 5GHz band for some reason (e.g. because 2.4GHz is too crowded) that is only possible with the Stick. You also have to check what is supported by your router. Most likely the Express will be fine.

I seem to have my generations mixed up a bit. It seems like the only difference from the Express to the Express+ is composite output.

+1 for Roku
![]() I have the previous gen Roku 3 and it's solid. I love the remote with the built-in headphone jack. |

Can anyone compare performance of steaming apps l, WiFi performance, and overall speed to the fat ps3 to the Roku?
My remote stopped working (replaced batteries) for the ps3 so I hooked up my Seiki blu-ray player, and it loads much faster than the ps3. Now I just need to make up for the streaming side of things. |

I have a Streaming Stick Plus, which I think I paid around $60 for it, connected to a 1080p TV, and it works well. I have it connected to 2.4 GHz WiFi because its in a different room from my router and the 5 GHz signal is out of range, but I haven't encountered any buffering issues.
