Australia Bird on a Wire - Shock (Avoid)

Hiding under the FBI Witness Protection Program, Rick Jarmin (Mel Gibson) gets nervous when old flame Marianne Graves (Goldie Hawn) recognizes him. But before he can assume a new identity, the man he put in jail (David Carradine) is released and comes to pay his respects. Rick and Marianne find themselves thrown together on a cross-country scramble, barely evading the gangsters, police and an amorous veterinarian (Joan Severance).

Well, Shock have done it once again, with Bird on a Wire they have presented an incredibly dated transfer with chunky grain and very little detail on a barebones disc. Not only this but it appears to be a version made for TV with some curse words replaced in a hamfisted and haphazard manner. Here's the BDinfo FWIW:

BDinfo:

Protection: AACS
BD-Java: Yes

Well, the UK blu might be from an older master, but they did a fairly decent job putting it together, and is definitively uncensored.

Anyone ropeable about the Shock release might want to import the Fabulous Films edition, going for an average of about A$17 on Amazon UK.

It's actually in a "5 for 30" promo right now as well.

This in not an altered TV version. Some curse words were replaced to make the film PG-13. It's the same in all regions. It's lame, but nothing SHOCK did.

Can someone confirm the aspect ratio on this please? The film should be 2.35 ratio (the U.K version is) but the back cover just says 16:9. Shock's covers can be wrong though: example being their release of The Fan - back cover says 1.85 but disc is 2.35.
