Default Seiki BD660

Couldn't find a thread for discussions on this player so decided to start one.
I finally ran into a disc that this machine is unable to play...
I cant get the disc to load for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2D)
I have tried 2 different players and the disc doesn't seem to want to launch in either.
I was wondering if anyone else with this player has successfully played this disc, and if so, did they have to do anything special to get the disc to load.
I am dying to see the movie so any help is appreciated
Thanks

Weired just tried playing the same disc on my BD-660, and it would not
play, guess there is a first time for everything. Then I played the same disc
on My Phillips 3D Blu-ray player and it worked fine!

I haven't tried playing Dawn yet but I have ran into troubles with a couple other discs. They were Men in Black I (the picture would stutter) and Men in Black II (disc would not load).

Besides that the player has been excellent to me so far.

Consumers will need to contact Seiki and request that the company issue a firmware update to fix the issue. Overtime all players need firmware updates because of new AACS BD+ encryption keys on select new titles and because of incompatibility issues between a Blu-ray title and a certain model of Blu-ray player.

Just tried the Dawn 2d Blu-ray on My Seiki SR-212S that I have in the living room and it played fine. I have 2 of the BD-660's and it would'nt play on either
of them. More than likely it is either a disc problem, or it could be a Seiki
firmware problem. Since the 660 isn't manufactured anymore, goodluck getting
a firmware upgrade, even if Seiki could send you a firmware upgrade, the risk
would be it would region lock the player. I would be interested to find out if the Dawn disc would play on the newest model, the SR4PK1.

Sometimes when a Blu-ray disc is stamped in the factory it is slightly out of specs, and the result is the disc will not play on certain models of Blu-ray players, but plays fine on others. Exchanging the disc will fix the issue if the disc is out of specs when stamped in the factory.

Another issue is the Blu-ray player can get slightly out of alignment and needs repaired.

Since multiply people are mentioning that they cannot play Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2-D Blu-ray on the Seiki BD660 (and other 20th Century Fox titles), then it must be a firmware update is needed. 20th Century Fox is known for using the latest AACS BD+ encryption keys on new Blu-ray discs.

If Seiki does not issue a firmware update for the BD660 with the latest encryption keys, then consumers will need to purchase a new Blu-ray player model. OPPO, Sony, and Panasonic brands are known to offer reliable and timely firmware updates when needed.

Roy Batty mentioned that the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes works fine on the Seiki SR-212S model. However most likely in the future there will be some Blu-ray discs that will not play on that model either unless firmware update support is offered.

As far as I am aware Seiki has never offered a firmware update for any of their Blu-ray players yet.

Having some issues with certain blu-rays. The main issue I've been experiencing is a sort of skipping of frames. Has anyone experienced this? It's not with every disc but when it happens, the problem is rather annoying.
Any suggestions?

I'm looking for Seiki remote codes. I have had a couple of Seiki's SR212S Blu-ray players, which have now died, and I have left over remotes from those units. I just acquired a Seiki BD660 (came without a remote), and would like to program one of those remotes to this player. Anyone know how?

EDIT: Universal remote I just purchased scrolled through all 1000 codes & didn't find one that worked. I need a remote for a Seiki BD660 specifically.

I'm in the same boat as you.

Bought a Seiki BD600 on Kijiji this week but it came without the remote.

I emailed Seiki and they said there were no codes for the remote.

Did you ever figured it out?

I don't think Seiki ever issues any firmware upgrades for their players.

My Seiki BD660 did not play a file for the fist time. It was mp4 files from a samsung galaxy camera. Seems to play everything else though.

I noticed this with only Region B blu-ray discs I have tried to watch, I am obviously playing them in Region A. But not everyone, just a few. Namely, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and Shaolin Soccer, both from the UK. I thought it had to do with a region switching thing. I would love to hear if anyone figured out a way to resolve this, or get a firmware update for the unit that might have fixed this.

Anybody????

Please note other Region B Blu-rays discs (Such as American Ninja series) and DVD Region B play fine with no problems. Its just certain Blu-ray Region B disc, like the ones mentioned above. Perhaps its a simple setting issue?
