Great. Love how Universal is the one studio that really feels like its keeping a consistent 4K release schedule of its full catalog going back to the 30s.

Saw this coming a few days ago. Good to see the confirmation with a US UPC. Definitely Day 1 for me.

The last BD had the entire the live musical, which I loved. It'd be great if that was included on this release, too.

Surely White Christmas would have been better first choice for 4k, no ? i.e. better visuals.

Same studio.

Can only imagine how good that would look - the blu-ray was very, very good !

Maybe they didn't have a 4k master.

Oh well, i'll take this.

It's not the same studio. White Christmas is from Paramount, this is Universal.

I didn't get the previous version, but I would welcome the live musical (never seen it) and the colorized version (for those that enjoy it) on an included blu-ray. Maybe even some new 'extras.'

My guess is White Christmas is coming out also. Different studios though.

Damn, you're right. Universal vs Paramount.

Well this one will do as a stocking filler until the big present (WC) arrives !

Not sure about this year for White Christmas. The initial blu-ray was released in 2010 and touted 'Anniversary Edition' across the top of the front. It was the 56th year. Then 4 years (2014) later a 'Diamond Edition' (60th) was released. It was re-released in 2019 with not anniversary markings (65th). We are at the 68th year and the 70th is two years away in 2024. I'd love to get it sooner, but if we get it now, they'll 'make us' double-dip in 2024 with a 70th Anniversary Edition alongside a steelbook or one with some swag or extra 'extras', lol. Either way...Bring it on! (BTW, I love both of these movies)

I finally saw this movie but did not like it as much as I thought I would.

I love White Christmas and in my opinion a far better film.

we're obviously going off topic with 'White Christmas' but since that was a VistaVision movie and the bluray looks great, I so want to see how it would look in actual 4K ~ come on Paramount !

This is truly amazing news. If this movie can get a 4K release, there's hope for many more films that might seem similarly "outdated."

While this is great news, this film is objectively outdated. Unless you want to argue in favor of blackface that is.

Holiday Inn 4K (1942)

Two retiring show people start up a New England country inn with the unique and, one would think, self-defeating idea of being open only on national holidays; however, in this delightful fluff-fest, they achieve instantaneous success. Conflicts arise when they fall for the same woman, and sparks fly -as do their feet - in a variety of inventive, holiday themed song-and-dance productions.

Director: Mark Sandrich
Writers: Claude Binyon, Elmer Rice, Irving Berlin
Starring: Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Marjorie Reynolds, Virginia Dale, Walter Abel, Louise Beavers
