Default Another Day of Life (Animated Docu Feature)

‘Another Day Of Life’ Takes Animation To New Places

Making an animated film that radically breaks the industry’s traditional narrative boundaries is never easy. Another Day of Life is a film that has managed to do just that, and it only took a decade or so.

The Oscar-nominated Spanish filmmaker Raúl de la Fuente, who co-directed with Polish filmmaker Damian Nenow, first came up with the idea for the film back in 2008.

The 85-minute film, combining cg animation and documentary footage, is based on the true life adventures of Polish journalist Ryszard Kapuściński, who in his career covered 27 coups and revolutions around the world.

Adapted from a Kapuściński book of the same name, Another Day of Life tells of the journalist’s experiences in Angola at the start of the country’s civil war in 1975, a Cold War-era proxy battle that was greatly intensified by the involvement of the United States and Russia:

"Kapuściński is a brilliant veteran journalist but also an idealist, a defender of lost causes and revolutions. He convinces his bosses at the Polish Press Agency to send him to Angola where a bloody civil war has broken out on the eve of its independence. As he embarks on a seemingly suicidal road trip into the heart of Angola, his convictions and his relationship with his work will change forever."

The film had its world premiere earlier this month at the Cannes Film Festival, where it screened out of competition. It’ll screen next month at Annecy as part of a special screening event.

Another Day of Life is produced by Platige Films (Poland) and Kanaki Films (Spain), and co-produced by Walking The Dog (Belgium), Wüste Film (Germany), Animations Fabrik (Germany), and Puppetworks (Hungary).

No American distributor or release date has been announced at this time.
