Default Pier Paolo Pasolini's Trilogy of Life or 3 Films By Rossellini with Ingrid Bergman?

I'm thinking of making a blind buy at Barnes and Noble using their 50% off and 30% off black friday coupon. I have seen no films in either of these sets.

What should I get:

Pier Paolo Pasolini's Trilogy of Life

or

3 Films by Roberto Rossellini Starring Ingrid Bergman.

What Italian should I go with and why?

Both sets are very good and I own both -- between the two, I prefer the Trilogy of Life since all three films are so joyful and emotionally fulfilling (especially Arabian Nights, which I've revisited several times).

Rossellini's films with Ingrid Bergman is a great set as well, but all three are kind of downers and I haven't felt the need to re-watch since my first viewing.

I would watch Pasolini on Hulu or Fandor first.

Love both and have both in my collection. Only Rossellini can make the glamorous Bergman look like an ordinary woman. I consider those three films the pioneers of modern cinema.

Pasolini is not for every one at all.

ARABIAN NIGHTS does play like Pasolini's feel good film (except for maybe all the non consensual sex jokes).

You can still get it online from B & N for the $40 sale price, although it's out of stock at the moment. If worse comes to worst, and you're region-free, there's the remastered UK release.
