That would have to be an upscale I think because the series was filmed on SD video.

Season three was probably the most entertaining, though season two was great as well. We are waiting, Warner Archive.

The series was animated on film so an HD release is possible but at present only SD masters exist.

I don't care, I want it on BD. I'll take upscales over DVD because it still looks better. Plus, it is on a better manufactured disc.

WB's big contemplation is doing an upscale, or a full re-master that would require re-scanning the original film elements and re-editing the show. (A la the process Paramount did with ST: TNG)

I'd rather they spend the money, and pay a bit more for a proper re-master. Upscales are just too dodgy, because of aliasing issues, not to mention problems attempting to remove 3/2 from an SD video source.

No, it was season 3. It is on the DVD set edited.

The Mask of Matches Malone is on the Season 2 BD. The episode was only left off of the dvd releases for season 2 (season 2 vol. one and season 2 vol. 2) . It is included as a bonus episode on the complete season 3 dvd release. The season 3 dvd review from the website, The World's Finest; explains why the episode is edited.

Aired pretty much worldwide, “The Mask of Matches Malone!” was never broadcast stateside on Cartoon Network due to a brief sexual innuendo in the episode’s musical number. The apparently offending footage was even removed and reanimated, but still ... never aired. “The Mask of Matches Malone!” actually aired unedited internationally in countless markets with the original animation intact.

Man, I guess that is what happens when there is no episode list on the disc case. I did not know that episode was in the S2 set. Is it uncut?

Found this in a review of the Seasons 1 and 2 BDs...

However, hardcore and (arguably) more mature fans of the show may consider it a bonus that these Blu-ray releases restore a few minor edits made to the broadcast and DVD versions. The review copy of the season premiere distributed to press included an eyebrow-raising throwaway reference to “the aristocrats” joke which was overdubbed when the episode aired and was released on DVD. The reference is restored in the season 1 set. Due to a risque double-entendre song, the infamous season 2 episode “The Mask of Matches Malone!” never aired in the United States and was only released in an edited, pan-and-scan version as an extra on the season 3 DVD set. The season 2 Blu-ray set returns the episode to its proper place in full widescreen and in its uncut version (which seems to come down to a suggestive finger-waggle). Only the most irrationally meticulous fan would even notice these changes or spend the time to compare them to the DVD releases (ahem), but it’s still nice to know these episodes have finally been restored to their original versions.
