I absolutely dislike how the masks/helmets on MCU characters just materialise now. I get Star Lords, being in outerspace and all, and the nanotech that Stark uses in A:IW but for whatever reason it bothers the heck out of me. Anyone else feel the same way or is it just me?

You like the idea of heroes physically changing into tights?

Black Panther introduced that concept to us when he carried around his costume in his necklace. Tony carried it in his new chest piece. They are not just appearing like magic, they are appearing from somewhere. It makes functional sense to be able to remove your helmet with a press of a button. Black Panther from Civil War had the actual helmet.

It was a bit too much, and frankly, the resulting climax between the two Panthers looked pretty bad. |

The Black Panther suit in CW was better than the one in the PB movie

I have to admit, the nanotechnology stands out to me. GOTG, I can accept because it's all space fantasy stuff where other outlandish tech is abundant (like FTL technology, a psychically-controlled arrow, repair tools that can fix a ship's entire bulwark, hand-held space bubble thingies, etc).
I saw Black Panther for the first time yesterday, and despite all the charm Wakanda offers I found the abundance of exotic technology distracting. Even though I knew about it going in, it feels like a stretch to accept that all this space-age stuff can evolve just because Vibranium. Must be some magic stuff, but then why didn't other nations do more with what little was scattered around? Captain America has a while shield made of the stuff--can it make a UFO levitate too? I guess I'm not seeing the correlation between the exotic metal and having cool things like nano-suits, hologram cars, airships, mag-lev trains, etc. Then I remind myself that all of the MCU kicks off with a lot of outlandish technology--Iron Man and his Arc reactors, Jarvis being an intuitive and personable (and sentient?) AI, the Avengers with their airborne carriers, Nazis with ray guns--yeah, the nano-suits are a drop in the bucket that Marvel's been using all this time to scoop up as many cool new toys as it can. To say nothing of the more fantasy-themed stories (like the Thor trilogy) where tech becomes indistinguishable from magic and "gods." Which is kinda the point anyway--superheroes are to the modern age what gods were to the ancients. In short though... ![]() |

Don't care how the heroes get their costumes on as long as the CGI is up to the task, which it rarely is. VFX in the MCU movies have gotten noticeably worse lately. Overworked artists are at the mercy of a conveyor belt that just won't slow down, and the product is suffering (the movies themselves are mostly fine, I'm just talking about the effects).

I though that Iron Man's suit was a bit much in Infinity War but it wasn't enough to take me out of the movie or bother me. The problem is that you can't exactly go without upgrading suits and you can't leave them stagnant either, so they need to keep upgrading the suits and making them better in certain ways.

I actually like that the MCU heroes are mostly unconcerned with who knows their identities. Everyone knows who the Avengers are, they're basically celebrities. Off the top of my head I can only remember Steve trying to be incognito at the Smithsonian in Winter Soldier.

Yeah, I am beginning to think the suit technology is getting to be a bit too much as well. Spider-man’s suit in Homecoming was way to high tech for my liking. Especially when you try and think about how it was all powered. And then the nanotech suits are just way over the top and totally unbelievable to me. It’s the one thing that stands out to me as unbelievable in the MCU.

A giant purple dude snapping his fingers and destroying half the universe is not very believable.
