I briefly had the thought this weekend that maybe I should buy the Happy Gilmore Blu Ray surely there is no chance it’d ever get a 4k, right? It’s not safe to buy anything on Blu Ray anymore.

Part of me definitely feels silly paying more than $10 for Happy Gilmore in 2024 though.

From Kino! I wasn’t into golf when I first saw this back in the day. I’ll appreciate it a lot more now that I play.

Still one of the best Sandler comedies to come out of his highly successful 90s run.

Didn’t expect Universal to license this one out but very excited about that. One of the best comedies ever!

I remember seeing this in the theater with my friend and his eventual wife while double dating with one of her girlfriends. I didn't care much for her, and just bided my time until I could ditch her and hit the clubs. But i did enjoy this film quite a lot, as growing up my dad tried to get me interested in golf (I had a "pretty" swing and could drive the ball a mile) but I liked contact sports more. So I identified with Happy on that level. Sandler has always been hit and miss with me (his use of senior citizens in "crude" situations got old fast) and his soundtracks were too full of 70's music rather than the 80's songs I grew up with. But I think I laughed more here than I did with most of his other films.

Wasn’t the blu ray done with dnr and edge enhancement if so this will be a huge improvement.

Growing up watching The Price Is Right starring Bob Barker, Happy Gilmore has been a favorite of mine since its 1996 release.

One of Kino’s best announcements in a while. Definitely one of Sandler’s best movies, IMO! I’d take Mr. Deeds and The Wedding Singer next on UHD. After that, I don’t care as much.

I think his earlier films were probably the best. My favorites are The Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, and The Wedding Singer. Billy Madison is pretty good too.

Of the more modern stuff, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, and That's My Boy would be my top picks.
