Default Digimon Adventure on Blu-ray

Digimon Adventure is out on Blu-ray in Japan but this isn't necessarily good because the picture quality was just upscaled and filtered rather than being properly remastered in HD for a pure high definition Digimon 01 experience.

I can't hope either for a DVD release ala the R2J version because New Video Group isn't just the type of company to expect professional high quality releases. They screwed up Saint Seiya's and I really wanted to support it.

Cinedigm aka New Video Group only released the Edited English version of Digimon Adventure on DVD that was shown on Fox Kids, Nictoons, etc. So their version is different. Though I do remember something about Funimation having digital rights to Digimon Adventure 1 and 2 for the Japanese version.

As far as picture quality goes, Toei is not that great of a company but puts out great series. So I blame Toei over Cinedigm any day.

So what you're saying is that New Video Group while has the rights for the physical releases FUNimation has the licence to release it digitally? Huh.

I wish FUNimation was in charge of releasing Digimon altogether because NVG is pretty crappy when it comes to proper high quality subbed releases.

I don't think Funimation/Crunchyroll would do any better.
The recent DiscoTek posts about it confirmed the original source wasn't very good for the U.S. dub, so I don't know if Funimation would have put the effort to make it better.

Bumping a 7 year old thread aside, go look into the upcoming releases of Digimon by Discotek. Full upscale looking better than the Japanese Blu-ray. They’re working on both an English and Japanese language version.
