Default Vudu UHD Streaming & Sony 4K UHD TV

I see many people say the Vudu app on Sony TVs don't stream UHD.

I just got a 690E and it streams UHD with Vudu app. HDR is greyed out, but it's streaming UHD.

Has there been any update ? Can anyone else confirm theirs works too ?

Nope. Z9D here, no vudu uhd.

did you recently get an update? you can check in the google play store on your tv in the my apps section. seems unlikely.

are you sure it's actually streaming in uhd?

Yes, I got an update. Didn't look to see what it was before I checked. Yes, UHD and clearly a difference between that and switching to HDX.

Will take a pic when I get home.

Is your tv not Android TV?

I don't know. I think it's a dumbed down version. Not much for apps and very fast because of it. I was shocked it was streaming UHD in Vudu.

Yesterday. I checked for updates and it found one and updated. Seemed kind of quick, think it was a little more than 200MB.

I just got the TV last Thursday.

From rtings.com on tv review.

"The X690E runs a custom Sony operating system like the X720E but unlike most other Sony TVs, which use Android TV."

I have to say, I spent $430 on the TV and $129 on the X800 and feel like I got a steal. I just watched my first 4K UHD Blu-ray (Guardians 2) and was blown away compared to the regular Blu-ray. In a dark room, HDR does work. My daughter and I were squinting from the sun and explosions. For a tv that can't get so bright for HDR, sure looks good in a dark room.

Can't imagine what a bright set would do with HDR.

Sony A1E and no update here. Still only play HDX. I don’t know why the other Android TV devices (Nvidia Shield) can play UHD HDR but not all Sony TV!?!

Also why does an inferior cheap model, no offense OP, can play it but not a flagship. WTF SONY + VUDU.

No offense at all, it is cheap.

I am shocked the higher models still can't stream Vudu UHD.

I have the Sony A1E and I am able to stream UHD Dolby Vision, and HDR10 in VUDU, with Dolby Atmos
I was able to do this by going to the google playstore on the A1E and downloaded VUDU.

If I try to play UHD in the VUDU app that was built in with the A1E, I can NOT play UHD.

Same for my Sony 930E, got the app from the Google store and now I'm happy with DV, HDR10 and Atmos while streaming.
