I'm interesting in blind buying this just to see the beginnings some of the talent that went on to be today's staples in comedy.

Great news. Was planning on doing a rewatch so I'll wait.

So sad to see what has become of Paul Feig after he created this gem of a show.

Here's hoping they spring to license the pre-existing sub tracks for the hard of hearing, since they did not for the DVD.

I've enjoyed the Yearbook release for quite some time now. I'd love for all the disc content from that set (since it included an additional two DVDs of extras) to be ported over for this release...

Dear God/Allah/Yahweh/Haruhi Suzumiya/George Burns,

why do you have me jobless and broke when all this good stuff are being announced? Are you Jobbing me, and I mean "Job"-ing me?

Ironically, I just started watching this again last night before I went to sleep. This announcement is awesome, and I cannot wait to own this on Blu-ray.

Watching the show on Netflix (which is just the DVD rips), you can tell they just used old digibetas from the broadcast. It looks really dated and the contrast sucks. I'm hoping for 16:9, since it would be nice to see the whole frame of the film.

Awesome news! SUCH an amazing show.

I really hope we get the yearbook extras, even if they're just on DVDs.

If you're in there just to see wacky comedy you'll be disappointed, it's often a very depressing show. It's definitely comparable to The Wonder Years, but a greatly superior one with much more fleshed-out characters (and The Wonder Years was very good already). Seth Rogen does have a fair amount of hilarious Seth Rogen moments, but Jason Segel has several of the most painful scenes I've ever seen in a TV show (ex, the drum audition, or many of his scenes courting Lindsey). :P James Franco is a lot of fun as a somewhat skeezy bad boy (but, realistically, not really a bad guy, just sort of an idiot).

I think it's legitimately the best show ever made, The Wire is a distant second. I love it utterly and think it captures my experience growing up better than anything else I've ever seen (even though it was set many years before my time). I am sad that it lasted as short of a time as it did, but it might be a blessing too as there's not a weak episode in the bunch and it has legendary status akin to that given to Firefly.

I guess I'll wait to see what the bluray looks like, I'm happy with the DVDs for now.

Anyway, this more than balances out their pathetic Scream Factory announcements and their lack of Godzilla.

Hopefully they're going to respect the original aspect ratio.

I think the Wonder Years comparison is actually pretty on point. It has it's comedic moments, but it's a pretty great "coming of age" show about different cliques in high school. It's a damn shame that this didn't at least get one more season or a few more episodes where they could better wrap up the stories.

And yeah, the episode with the Nick's audition is a tad depressing.

I actually wouldn't mind a 16:9 presentation if it was framed with that ratio in mind. A lot of shows in the late 90's that were shot on film were, as the industry was already in the early stages of making the transition. That 70's Show is a great example.
