Default Master of the Flying Guillotine (1976) - BluRay

https://www.amazon.de/Duell-der-Giga...&th=1&psc=1&m=

Anyone know if this is planned to be in true 1080p from proper HD source?

It's advertised as such, but with these obscure (bootleg?) labels no one knows for certain.

FURIOUS SLAUGHTER from the same label was proper HD though (scanned from a foreign theatrical print as it seams).

As far as I know the original pre-print materials of MASTER were made unusable when the Asian rights holder used them to produce several theatrical prints from them for a re-release in the early 2000s. At least that is what was communicated by the company that released the US DVDs. They restored the negative and did a non-anamorphic transfer for their first DVD release. But when they asked for it again a few years later in order to do a new anamorphic transfer for a special edition DVD, it was completely ruined and could not be scanned again. That is why the image quality of the SE was worse than that of the older edition because they had to anamorphically blow up the non-anamorphic master instead of doing a new transfer.

Hopefully it includes an English dub,.

I'll probably give this one a go when the orders become available, if we ever get a UK release later down the line I'd support that too.

I had no idea there was an initial DVD release that is better quality.

This is the UK MoonStone release?

Or was it by a different company?

It was a US release by Pathfinder Pictures. The Ultimate Edition from 2002 was non-anamorphic. The later Deluxe Edition was anamorphic but had a far worse image quality.

The 2002 ultimate edition is listed as 2.35:1 , does this mean that only the Pathfinder Pictures release utilises the initial good transfer? Aspect ratio aside, I’m interested in that initial good transfer.

I had both, unfortunately the original disc was faulty (mine was, anyway) and skipped all over the place so I dumped it for the deluxe edition which at least played with no issues.

Back when i did Netflix through the mail (middle to late 2000's) i rented the Ultimate edition and it skipped all over the place and had a bubble on the disc, i sent it back and they sent another with the same issues. Finally after a 3rd time they sent one with no issues. There could of been a bad batch of them.

Damn, it’s scheduled on Amazon for Sept 1, although Mandarin and German appeared to be the only language listed…highly unlikely it would have contained English.
