Default Warner Bros. wins bid for Bad Robot in $500M Partnership

Quote:
The sweepstakes to land a massive overall deal with Bad Robot, the famed production company run by J.J. Abrams and his wife and co-CEO Katie McGrath, is nearing the finish line.

Following a months-long courting process that included multiple suitors, WarnerMedia is in final negotiations for a new partnership with Bad Robot, sources say. It's unclear how many years the new agreement is for, as the deal that would keep Abrams with the company he has called home since 2006 has not yet been finalized.

Still, sources have estimated that any new pact for Bad Robot could be valued in the $500 million vicinity when all is said and done. That would put the deal at the top of the recent wave of nine-figure pacts for prolific producers, including Greg Berlanti ($400 million from Warner Bros. TV), Ryan Murphy ($300 million from Netflix) and Shonda Rhimes ($100 million from Netflix).

Under the deal, Abrams and company will continue to create and develop new projects for WarnerMedia and supervise other producers across film, TV and digital platforms. Sources say the process of moving Bad Robot's feature film deal over from Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures has already begun.

Abrams will find a way to lens flare the darkest scene in a Batman movie.

How did he "ruin" Star Trek?

His movies don't have any effect on shows, movies, etc. that came before it or after it.

The TNG movies were awful and franchise was dead. Regardless of what the movies themselves were like it, it was the start of the franchise's resurrection.

The problem It was a silly decision to make Star Wars Saga sequel with no Luke Skywalker.

However, the island, etc. etc. are not the problem.

The problem is that he and Kasdan (let us not forget the two of them developed this story) lacked the imagination to create a new villain for the army. Darth Vader Jnr and more stormtroopers are not what the story needed.

Seeing all the franchise they involved midway now starts with that logo is like seeing the franchise infected by a plague. Although I have to respect him for that, he knows how to negotiate his company into everything he touch. I am thankful the Star Wars franchise starts with only Lucasfilm logo.

Sorry I don't hate him or the company, their films can be entertaining. He's just not one of my favorite director.

By making a bad sequel and then handing it off for an even worse third entry.

The first ST film he made was great though.

I'm a fan of Abrams and most of his projects are entertaining and fun.

I disagree with many of his decisions on Star Trek but the movies are still fun.

He assembled a great cast for Star Wars. It is just pity that is where his and Kasdan imagination ended. Unimaginative worlds, the same bad guys and nothing new or boundary pushing in VFX.

And another friggin' sand planet in the next one.

That is not "ruining" Star Trek.

Abram's films in no way spoil anything else I the franchise - not the orinal series, DS9, Discovery, etc.

Abrams brought the franchise back to life after Berman and his cohorts ran it into the ground.

I'd put him in the same category as Joss Whedon. Both have done great things, but have also done some not-so-great things. They both seem to have fans that love all their work, even when it's bad.
