Default Ergo Proxy BD Nov 01, 2016

Greetings all. I have searched and haven't found much on information on a Blu-Ray release for the states or a re-release for that matter since it shows it was released in Japan. I've looked and found some on Amazon but they're going for nearly $1000 in some cases. Has anyone heard if they're actually going to be coming out with this series on Blu-ray? I loved this series and am sure others did too and wonder if there's any info that someone may know? Thanks!

I just started watching this on Hulu. I'd love it if there was an upcoming US BD.

That's because it's OOP. Geneon Universal is no more.

I believe Funi still hold the rights to it right now. If they do ever release it in the US it'll probably be the Classic or S.A.V.E. line. Unless the get enough interest for it and maybe do a Premium Collection. I would rather have it in the Classic Line personally as I don't want to pay $75 for it.

Isn't this the same thing as Noir? They had some sort of licensing restriction, so could only do DVD for a certain amount of time, and then after that can do a Blu-ray? If so, I expect this to be an ANime CLassics line release.

I was thinking that but I'm not 100% certain but I wouldn't doubt it.

I'm aware Geneon Universal is now NBCUniversal Entertainment, hence the entries below:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Knigh...lu-ray/109646/

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Hells...lu-ray/128583/

However, it doesn't change the fact that Geneon Universal's products are now OOP.

Don't forget that NBC/Universal are owned by someone else now.
So the correct name is probably NBCGeneonUniversalEntertainmentJapan(aComcastCompa ny)

More seriously, though, neoz. There's been enough releases of this it's not going to be S.A.V.E. (especially since the current release is Anime Classics).

Funimation might try for another collector's set like they did for Serial Experiments Lain (I can only hope they drop the DVD discs this time).

Funimation never scored the bluray rights to Ergo Proxy, much like the original Darker than Black....but a few years later, Funi was able to acquire the rights for Darker than Black. If this happens with EP I'll buy, but I like my EP imported set and my Geneon USA dvd's just fine.

Well when you compare Darker Than Black Season 1, that would make it sound like maybe Funimation will make another Very Limited Edition version of Ergo Proxy when they do somehow obtain the Blu-ray rights.

Not likely.... From what I've heard EP isn't on Funi's immediate radar for a bluray release. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't bet on this happening for a long while....

So I guess we'll be able to appreciate our "exclusive" Ergo Proxy JP Blu-ray Box sets for a good bit longer then, Talyn...

And yes, the JP Blu-ray set has been up around $1000 on Amazon for quite a while now, so they're almost unattainable any more. Sucks that anime can get so expensive - do they ever really sell any at that price, I wonder?

Ya know... if others wants to get it, and not drop "that" much.... go pilfer the set from proxy sites. Shopping Mall Japan, can be difficult to get setup but once you're set up one can go through Japan auction sites and marketplaces for better prices. I was lucky my best friend lives in Japan and got me my set...otherwise, that's where I would have gone through. Screw ebay and amazon on that....

I've seen American DVD Volumes that can rival that on the U.S. Amazon store.

This looks like something I would really enjoy, but how much of a Cyberpunk show is it?

Less evil corporations, more Brave New World.
Less action, more suspense.
Less politics, more character introspection.
