The extra tat brings back memories. I remember persuading the local video shop to give me one of the RCA Columbia Pictures posters, because there was an advert in the paper saying that you could get one "at your local video store". Had that poster on my bedroom wall for years.

Nice, I have fond memories of this movie on VHS, I always wished they had made the little toy Johnny 5's from the movie in real life!

There have been some, but they've either been specially made prototypes, or unlicenced fan builds.

I'm surprised NECA haven't picked up the rights to make one given how good their Alien/Predator and other movie toy lines are

I loved the first one when I was younger, but I don't think I ever saw part 2.

Can modern day Britain really handle Fisher Stevens in this movie?

I remember the poster of this being out front of my local 2-screen cinema when it came out. There was nobody queuing up for it, and I was going to in to see my first "18" certificate - Red Heat - at the tender age of 15.

Short Circuit 2 didn't help itself by looking as though it was a made-for-TV movie, but coming from the guy behind The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, The Incredible Hulk, V, etc, the TV producer sensibilities naturally worked their way into the look of the film.

I just snagged a copy of the Blu edition of the first one for £3, so will probably pick this up eventually.

The fact that Funko haven't even turned him into a Pop Vinyl is aburd.

A better look at the package:

I am absolutely day one for this. This was a huge favourite as a kid and still is (I watched it with my son a couple of weeks ago, which was a lot of fun). I assumed this wouldn't even get a UK release*, let alone a deluxe version, so I'm a very happy man.

* And that was before 2020 seemed to draw a line right through stuff like the Fisher Stevens portrayal in this film...

I looked up U.K release date for Short Circuit 2 earlier and it came out January 6th 1989, exactly six months after the U.S release. Releasing a film that late would be financial suicide now, but it was pretty normal for U.K audiences at the time. I would have just turned six years old at the time and I had seen Michael Jackson's Moonwalker at the same cinema probably two weeks prior ; can't believe that crap was one of my first cinematic experiences! I vividly remember seeing the T.V ads for Red Heat, along with the Ocean Software video game... Pretty sure every film in the 80's had the prerequisite Ocean Software tie-in. Saw it about two years after that, after lending my uncle's tapped off Sky Movies VHS... So it had all the F'ing and Jeffing intact. Saw a lot of films I shouldn't have because of my Uncle.

It's about time that range died out.

That range is still going very strong (and putting out some great models ) - which is why it's even more baffling that they've never put a Johnny 5 out as most of their line seems to rely on nostalgia for cult films. This seems such an obvious choice for them - which makes me wonder what weird licensing issue is holding up any Johnny 5 merchandise.

What is with the 'load of tat' commentators on here, it is happening on every thread that features an LE. It's condescending to members who like Limited Editions that have some art cards or a poster. If you have the movie on Blu-ray and don't want the LE there is no need to dull down the thread with negative comments, think about other forum members.
