99% of their Blu-rays are locked but all of their UHD discs are region free.

That's usually the case when a director is involved from what I've seen.

Disappointed in the lack of HDR/Dolby Vision but the upgrade from standard HD to this should be quite stunning.

Wow, nice timing! I almost paid a slight premium for the OOP Blu-ray. Didn't think this one would get a 4K

Yeah, I assume that has to be the case here given that Criterion has included HDR on all of their new in-house restorations for UHD aside from Virgin Suicides (despite what some want to believe ). I get the lack of it when it’s a new digital film that simply wasn’t graded that way or when they’re utilizing an outside restoration that was completed without it but it’s a bit frustrating here. Oh well, I’ll still buy it of course

Have often seen this compared with The Innocents (1961) which I loved, but have never seen The Others. I think now will be the time.

This will be one Criterion I definitely won't be waiting for a sale to buy. Gotta watch it in October every year. Might have to pick up the Tod Browning set to go with it.
