Now every adventure is brought together on Blu Ray for the first time in this complete series set, presented from HD masters and including the original TV version of the pilot featuring alternative scenes. ... sounds promising! |

It's very different to Star Trek. Very kid-level overall, especially in the first season. Lots of groaner dad-joke humour. I actually found season two more enjoyable, but that's the minority opinion.

$80 works out at about £40 in the UK. For the complete remastered series that's a really good price.
Loving that artwork. To me that looks like an outer cardboard slipcase which will house each season in it's own amaray side-by-side. |

Couple it with a doddery Wilfred Hyde-White wandering around in both a cardigan and a daze as he looks for a Werthers' Original and it's all just bloody awful. Crichton%20Buck%20Rogers.jpg |

I will be happy to have a copy of the TV version as well. I think the theatrical only came out previously and doesn't contain the segments which mix into the series. Either way I love the idea of owning both.
I like the idea as well that we might get the Flight of the War Witch back in its 2 part version. I hated the hacked together movie version of this. |

This is listed under special features:
"Bonus Theatrical Version of the Pilot episode (in Standard Definition)". I would think the theatrical film (with the opening James Bond-style theme song) would be presented in HD like the Battlestar Galactica film is on the Galactica set. Could this be a mistake in the listing or is the theatrical film really SD? I'm thrilled to see this getting a blu-ray release but the SD pilot film is disappointing. EDIT: Just saw billyearle above had the same concern. Shame if the theatrical film is SD. There's no reason it should be since it was a theatrical film before a series. I also see the special features are quite limited. No documentaries. No deleted scenes. No interviews. No galleries. No marketing materials. No promos. No booklets or printed materials. Quite disappointing in the extras department. Compare this to the Galactica blu-ray sets with hours of deleted scenes for each episode, multiple documentaries, and other goodies. Gil Gerard and Erin Gray both have fond memories of this show, so there is no reason they couldn't have been reached for new interviews. The old DVDs were the same way - no extras. This series deserves some special edition treatment, especially since it's being labeled here as a limited edition. Last edited by mar3o; 07-12-2016 at 01:14 AM. |
